Predator by Terri Blackstock is a contemporary fiction page-turner about online security. When Krista’s 14-yr-old younger sister, Ella, is murdered, Krista is horrified to find discover that Ella gave up-to-the-minute details about her whereabouts on the social media GrapeVyne (similar to Facebook). Krista is determined to find her killer and warn others about posting so much personal stuff online, especially one’s whereabouts. The killer continues going after more girls and the suspense builds...more

Be warned: This isn't a book for the Christian who likes "warm 'n' fuzzy" novels. If you want one of those, check out the prairie romance section of the bookstore (which, if you're at a Christian bookstore, fills about half the building). This novel will test you. Inform you. Leave you breathless.

I've never read a Terri Blackstock book before, so I'm coming into things unbiased. I have to say, I really enjoyed this book (okay, "enjoyed" isn't the right word to give a book covering such a heavy s...more

First off Blackstock is a competent writer, not great, but solid. So you won't be embarrassed recommending her or being caught reading this type of CBA product. Predator has an interesting, if not a very compelling, premise. It covers contemporary yet familiar ground: a murder mystery occasioned by an online social networking stalker. The subject matter is adult oriented (if you don't like reading about serial rapists/murderers, you won't like this story). There are faith elements (questioning G...more

Predator is a story that could be ripped from today’s headlines. I’m so glad that I received a review copy of this informative, chilling tale. Terri Blackstock talks about today’s technology and how it’s quickly changing our world. We need wisdom in navigating through the world-wide web and what we tell our peeps.

It’s a shocker to realize teens are up-dating their status many times a day, giving people detailed information. For example, posting from their phones up-dating their status in every c...more

I really, really enjoyed reading Predator. Written by a wonderfully talented Christian suspense author, the message in this book is one that is great for both adults and teenagers alike, in understanding online social sites and predators amongst them. Definitely a must know subject in today's society.

Terri Blackstock has written lots of great suspense novels over the years, but I totally enjoyed this one the most. Not knowing what was happening from page to page and trying to help figure out th...more

I read this book in a day, I simply couldn't put it down! From the very beginning Terri got me thinking and turning the pages... This book is about an online predator who kills a young girl named Ella. The predator followed her "thought bubbles" (kind of like Facebook status or tweets). Young Ella updated often with everything from when she woke up, what she was wearing, what class she was in, when she was going to the store, everything was posted right there for the predator to see...and indeed...more

Terri Blackstock excels at building tension and suspense and illustrating terror. Using that talent, she drives home the point that people should use extreme caution about what they reveal on social sites.

When Krista Carmichael's young sister is murdered by an on-line predator who had stalked her through her GrapeVyne page, Krista seeks to trap the evil man. She solicits the aid of GrapeVyne's developer, Ryan Adkins, and together the engage in a terrifying search for this serial killer.

Predator is a book that I think everyone who uses social networking needs to read, and especially teenagers. We tend to get so caught up in the world around us using this social media that we forget who is actually seeing everything we post; we need to be careful with what we do because the smallest thing can affect another person or change our own lives. I first starting reading Terri Blackstock, who is one of my favorite authors, after reading this book, which really got me hooked on the whole...more

I am half way through this audiobook and am wondering if I am reading the same book as the rest of the reviewers. This book purports to be a suspense book about an on-line predator of young girls who stalks them via a social media site. So far I have found little real suspense and alot of prostelizing and over wrought, overdone characters. The only character I can stand so far is the CEO of the social media site, Ryan. The main character and her father, who start with book with the murder of the...more

In Predator, Krista Carmichael's sister is killed by an online predator. She confronts Ryan Adkins, the originator of the social network, GrapeVyne--where it seems the killer found her sister. Krista decides she is going to bait the killer using the same site. The predator takes the bait while Ryan and Krista work together to catch him and keep other young girls safer online.
This book made me think about how easy the internet makes things for predators. Kids post pictures. They post where they...more

Decent book. I think it was probably better than Double Minds, although the content--while not necessarily inappropriate--was on a more mature level and dealt with more mature themes. Once again, I was disappointed by Blackstock's action sequences and some poor research regarding the same (LR on a .22 rifle cartridge means "long rifle", not "long range"), but the book was good and held my interest. I didn't expect who turned out to be the villain, but I was really horrified or shocked either. I...more

In Terri Blackstock's latest novel Predator, a young girl is murdered after sharing too many personal details about her life on the social networking site GrapeVyne. Her sister, determined to track down the killer and get justice for her sister and her family, puts her own life in danger by posing as a young girl on the same site and trying to lure the predator out.

This novel was a total page-turner from start to finish. I could hardly put it down. What's so terrifying about this story is that...more

This was the first Blackstock book that I have read, but I know her works are very popular in church libraries. I found this story about a predator who found his young victims on a facebook like platform, where young people told enough details about their every move and location in every day of their life. They were stated as thought bubbles, and I found it to be a stern warning to teens about the there revealing details of their life to complete strangers. As usual the main female characters wa...more

This book was just okay IMHO. I don't know if I've just had a bad spell of 'book chosing' but I keep waiting for each crime/mystery/murder book to be 'the one' ....... this one isn't it. It's nicely written. Terry Blackstock does a wonderful job at keeping it suspenseful, the characters are in check and each one fulfills the role he/she is supposed to. I found it to be less 'edge of seat' and more predictable. It's a quick, quiet read. The thing that stuck out for me the most was wishing there w...more

This was a suspenseful and interesting read. It helps you think twice about what you are posting on social networks. Teens are especially susceptible to posting a lot of information about themselves and parents need to be aware that online predators do exist and posting your location, where you live, your phone number, etc. can be extremely dangerous.

The author is Christian and I appreciated how the very real issue of questioning God came up when tragedy struck and how those feelings were dealt...more

Predator is another huge success for Terri Blackstock. It is a breath-taking ride on a roller-coaster of suspense. It is too frighteningly real and makes the reader sit up and take notice and think of what could potentially happen.

It is a story of young people and their tendency to tell all, not only to their friends but to anyone else who may be lurking around the Internet corner and listening in on their conversations. It depicts the dangers of evil predators who use the plethora of informati...more

Terri Blackstock has written a powerful book about the possible dangers of putting out too much information about yourself on social media. Using a fictional website like Facebook or My Space she tells a story of young girls and women being targeted for attack by a predator who uses what they post and takes advantage. Fortunately I am an older woman who puts very little personal information about myself on FB but there are the young ones who are not as careful and this story is a strong message...more

This book seemed like a timely book to read with online social networking sites being so abundant. GrapeVyne is at the forefront of the book when a killer decides to use it as a way of stalking potential victims. Young girls posting every action in their lives makes it possible to “virtually” stalk them and disappear just as quickly. After the murder of her 14 year old sister Krista Carmichael is unhappy with the results the police are getting and decides to flush out the predator herself.

Predator, by Terri Blackstock, is the story of Krista Carmichael’s fourteen-year-old sister, Ella, posts on her GrapeVyne page, “Riding my bike to Sinbad’s. Dying for a soda, and Dad won’t keep them in the house.” Ella will never come home from that bike ride to the store. She will be killed by a social networking predator that read her Thought Bubble on GrapeVyne and followed her. Krista begins searching high and low for her sister’s killer, and helps many other girls being followed by these ho

Every once in a while I come across a book that gets to me and can't stop thinking about. This is one of them.

First off, I've never read a Terri Blackstock book so I didn't know what to expect. I also did not know that the author is Christian. I only mention this because it's constant presence throughout. I actually believe it gives more meaning and depth to the story.

A serial killer is on the loose. He picks his victims by befriending young girls and following their lives through GrapeVyne, a...more

There is a reason Terri Blackstock’s name is synonymous with suspense, and PREDATOR is that reason. This is the best suspense book I have ever read.

When a young girl is murdered after leaving her personal information on a networking site, her sister is determined to trap the killer and bring him to justice.

This book really hits home. Being on the internet a lot myself, I am pretty careful about what I say, but this book made me look at my favorite sites even closer.

But beyond a good lesson, the...more

Another good book by Terri Blackstock. This story, of an internet predator who finds his victims by the detailed personal information that they post on social networking sites, is pertinent to today's times. It made me reevaluate the information I put on the internet and the people I allow to see it. Very thought-provoking and very well-written. This heart-wrenching mystery with a tad of romance (just enough! - I'm not a romance person) will keep you turning the pages well into the night. Recomm...more

I wasn't aware that this was a Christian book when I accidentally downloaded it. As a non-Christian, I just skipped over those parts…The book was mediocre, the main character was naïve to the point of absurdity, her father was unsympathetic, unproductive and frustrating, and the love story aspect of the interaction between Ryan and Krista was nearly laughable. Suspenseful? No. Exciting? Not so much. Riveting? Not in the slightest. Readable? I guess, if you got it by accident and have spare time.

I always love Terri Blackstock. This one I recommend for anyone who uses social networks like Facebook and Twitter, especially if you have children using them!! Every parent should know how to protect their children on these networks.

It's a very fast paced novel, like most of hers are and my only complaint is I usually want them to last a little longer. She seems to rush at the end and then leaves you hanging a little on the characters at the end. What can I say, I like a little romance too!

This was a good book and did cause me to think about all of these social networks and what is out there. Being older, I don't tend to write the details of my life and my every where-about but I know that some do, especially the younger crowds.

I was a little bit disappointed in how the killer went in the end. I guess I wanted to know a little bit more as to "why?" I guess he was just using his power to be the evil thing he was. But this was a quick read and I don't think I've ever been disappoin...more

After the death of her younger Sister by an online predator, Krista Carmichael creates an online account using a false identify to try to find the person who murdered her sister. The book caution about putting out personal information on social networks. Predator by Terri Blackstock is quite a story!! It sends a very scary message about the dangers of social networking on the Internet. It should be must reading for everyone who uses any social website on the Internet, especially young people who may not fully comprehend the danger of posting personal information on such websites.

This was a riveting read, as I've come to expect from this author. She does a good job of making people aware of the dangers of posting too much info online, as well as delivering a good story and things to think about in regards of how God can use suffering for good. A bit violent and scary, but that's as should be on such a subject. Nothing explicit about the rapes are given, however. Only one kiss is mentioned, and not in a forced-upon-the-girl way, but before marriage. That's one of the only...more
