These 48 provocative chapters "are in no sense quiet religious essays. They were born in the midst of life; and while they have, as I hope, heaven in full view, they are never too far removed from the rough world where the children of God struggle and work and pray." A.W. Tozer. One of Tozer's best-selling titles.

Short selections from Tozer originally written for a magazine, perfect for the nightstand and suitable to knock the reader around with his prophetic words about the American church and it's compromises with American culture and values.

Really enjoying this book from Tozer. It works well as a devotional; none of the chapters are more than 4 pages long. A few minor theological disagreements are all that prevent this from being a 5 star book.

It is definitely a book that will greatly impact the way you think, but any Tozer book will do that

The main thing I love about Tozer is how simply he puts complex issues. This book sets forth major issues that people can argue about for ages, but Tozer just lays it out in an easy to understand way. It's almost like he's saying, "Duh!" Another good quality of this specific book is the short chapters. It makes it an easy read and a very worthwhile one as well.

Great book. Each little section presents just enough truth to get your mind running and your heart panting. Definitely will be going back to this one for devotionals. Tozer's writing is especially wonderful to me because he really gets down to core Christian truth that hopefully all Christians agree on, no matter what denomination they affiliate with.

Many of us Christians have become extremely skillful in arranging our lives so as to admit the truth
of Christianity without being embarrassed by its implications.”
