I buy many cooking books, especially thai cookbooks. I'm not comfortable in the kitchen....but i love eating, reading, and talking about food. So, i figured at my age...it's really time to learn to cook because fast food can only take you so far and i would want my family enjoying coming to the table to eat a feast of a meal that yours truly has prepared.

I just finished a Thai cooking class, taught by a native, which focused on using prepared sauces along with fresh produce, meats, and seafood. I went into the class already owning this book (and its sister, Real Vegetarian Thai) and am greatly pleased to report that this book nailed everything. The author provides recipes for from-scratch curry pastes but prepared sauces yielded excellent results and each recipe I tried was spot-on and beyond tasty. Some of the recipes are better than others. I was disappointed in the Phad Thai recipe, but the Yellow Curry is really yummy (just add more vegetables like red peppers, bamboo shoots, etc.). And the Beef Waterfall Salad is fabulous as is the Mango Sticky Rice. YUM! I'm hungry now. :)
