A holiday treat about a charismatic little terrier — certain to sweeten
the dreams of children everywhere.

Tucker loves Christmas. He gets so carried away baking cookies this year that he gets a little too close to the hot pan. Ouch! But his sore red nose comes in handy when he makes a special friend, who invites him on the sleigh ride of a lifetime!

Recommends it for: parents reading with their younger children
This is a cute Christmas-themed book for younger children. The illustrations are a bit rudimentary and some of the narrative might be too complex for the littlest ones. But overall, it's an entertaining story and is sure to be a hit with little children (especially if they are dog-crazy like our girls are.)

I can't read books like this with our girls anymore, so I sneak to the library to get my fix. (Yes, I admit it, I'm a picture-book junkie!) I still love the visual appeal of fun board books l
I don't know who is rating this book anything less than five stars, because really, it is just precious. I got it in the cheap pack of Scholastic Christmas books, 12 books for $20. Some of the books in these "value packs" are questionable, but this one is a true find. It's about a little dog who gets excited for Christmas and gets to go on a magical sleigh ride with St. Nick himself. The best part is probably when he pees on a tree to select it as the best. My son actually asked me to read it to ...more

Leslie McGuirk, Ho, Ho, Ho, Tucker! (Candlewick, 2005)

Cute-enough Christmas story featuring a naughty little dog... or at least a dog who starts off as a naughty little dog and then becomes Rudolph the Red-Nosed Puppy. Okay, okay, I know, it's kind of ridiculous of me to talk about, and maybe even to expect, character consistency in a board book written for the pre-lit set, but David Shannon manages it in the Diaper David books with exactly this kind of character. Still, Davey's having a good ti
My children liked this a lot more than I did. It is a story of a little dog named Tucker's Christmas adventures...making a snowman for Santa, Christmas caroling ("Bark the Herald Angels Sing") and helping Santa fly the reindeer.

My kids thought it was cute and funny, and my 7 year old was especially happy because her teacher has a darling dog named Tucker that she sometimes brings to school. The illustrations are somewhat cartoon like and it the story was just okay for me, but as it is meant for
Who doesn't love a story featuring a Westie?
FYI Tucker does urinate on a tree in this book...which my children found HILARIOUS! We liked it mainly for that. ;)
Tucker is a Westie, need I say more?
