Michael Hyatt, CEO of Thomas Nelson, has said,
Not every project you start is worth finishing. Sometimes we get into it and realize, “This is a waste of time.” Fine, then give yourself permission to quit. I do this all the time with reading. It’s why I am able to read so many articles and books. Here’s publishing’s dirty little secret: most books are not worth finishing. Most books could be cut in half and you wouldn’t miss a thing. The key is to read as long as you are interested and the

I recently finished reading Free Book by Brian Tome. As I read the first page of the book, I thought I was going to be hooked. I mean, Tome used the word “pissed” in the second paragraph. He also said he was going to “[come:] at you hard”. (3). So I was expecting a lot from this book. That feeling quickly disappeared when I turned the page and saw: “We don’t need another book about the cross. As offensive as that statement might sound, it’s true.” (4) It might be offensive…because it is! More...

This on is written by my pastor, Brian Tome, at Crossroads in Cincinnati. Not only was it exciting to read a book written by someone I actually know, but to have it be such a wonderful book full of insights and personal stories about his own journey. Brian has a great sense of humor and he lends that here in this book about freedom.

This book is about identifying your strongholds (those things that hold you back in life unnecessarily) and becoming free of them. The middle chapters are the strongest as far as holding practical advice that readers can really use.

This book is really good. However.. there is a chunk in here about homosexuality that is so wrong it's not even funny. BUT- that being said.. He is really just everyday practical about obliterating the things in your life that keep you from getting free and staying free- the kind of free Jesus was sent to bring us.

I'm kind of bored being only a chapter and a half in. Brian Tome delivers his message with an "all-knowing" attitude. That kind of persona just puts me off. But we'll see.

I really wanted to like this book and I agree with much of what he has to say, but it didn't give me any 'aha' information, just a rehash.

This book could be one of the best this year and 2010 just began! Brian Tome comes at you fast in truthfully in the vain of Francis Chan with Crazy Love and Forgotten God. Get ready to hear a lot about this book in the coming year.
