Back to my favorite kind of story! Kathleen Fuller's An Honest Love, is book 2 in her Hearts of Middlefield series and I loved it every bit as much as book 1, A Man of His Word. Tender and sweet, loving and filled with God and humor, this story reaches out to you from the very beginning.

One of the many thing I loved about this particular story is, not only do we get glimpses of characters from book 1 mixed with new fresh ones, Kathleen tells both Anna and Lukas' story AND also young Elisabeth an...more

This book was something really different I've read before. I got the book through BookSneeze which mostly offers religious books for review. As I have mentioned before, I myself am not religious but since I am new for open experiences, I wanted to give this book a change.

This is a second book for Fuller's series called Hearts of Middlefield. I haven't read the first book so it is hard to compare this one to it. An Honest Love tells a story of two couples and how their friendships grow into somet...more

A lovely and heartwarming story about an Amish brother and sister who find both love and friendship in the most unlikely place. Lukas meets Anna who was hurt by the man she once loved and was going to marry. Elisabeth has known Aaron since her family is friends with his. She also knows of his dark past and wild ways before he joined the church. Now Elisabeth works with Aaron and has to deal with his quiet and sullen attitude and his rudeness towards her. Will the past, lies and half-truths destr...more

An Honest Love, by Kathleen Fuller is an Amish love story that we can all relate to, full of love, betrayals, heartbreak and even a surprise here and there! Anna is starting a new business with her mom and receives quite a bit of help from Luke, are his reasons out of love or money? Will Anna be able to overcome her past, and will the secret she holds destroy everything just as she begins to find hope and heal? Then there's Elizabeth who doesn't feel as though she quite measures up as she begins...more

Trying to get on with her life after the man she loved betrayed her, Anna and her mother moved to Middlefield where she can protect her heart and keep from ever being hurt again. Time and a new place seem just the things she needed to mend her broken heart. She put all her efforts and thoughts into the new gift shop she and her mother purchased. And then she meets Lukas. She can’t resist the attraction between them, and find herself falling in love. Her fear of losing Lukas forces her to keep a...more

Once again we are in Middlefield Ohio, where we will find a beautiful young woman. An Amish woman, who has been hurt badly by a man she deeply loved and was engaged to be married to. He basically left her at the altar so to speak. Three days before her wedding Anna Hesh found out her fiance of three years did not want to marry her, and was beyond crushed to learn that he soon married a young woman in another church district. But life must go on, and a new start should help the hurt ease. She and...more

I really love these Amish stories. These Hearts of Middlefield books are simple, but enjoyable. Like the one before it, there are two stories in this book. The one about Anna and Lukas from the back cover and another one about Aaron (who was a character from book one in the series) and Elizabeth. It seems that all the books center around one family, the Bylers. In this case, Elizabeth and Lukas are both Bylers and then the two people they are involved with are from other families.

I have read ot...more

An Honest Love is a light hearted, good-feeling sort of read. It’s easy to pick up and exceptionally hard to put down! The book is about two Amish couples: Anna and Lucas, Elizabeth and Aaron. The story line of this book begins to pick up after the first chapter with Anna Esh, who had moved to Middlefield, Ohio with her mother after a painful breakup with her fiancé. To find out the full story of this romantic escapade, you’ll have to read it yourself. And if you like Amish romantic fiction, the...more

Elisabeth is a bit klutzy, but she is trying to work carefully so she won’t mess up as much. She is thrilled when Gabe offers to hire her to work in the office of his blacksmith shop. They need an accountant, and Elisabeth has a reputation of being good with numbers. Elisabeth jumps at the chance, thrilled that the job also includes working with Aaron, an Amish man with...more

THis is a simple sweet little book. I did not like the deceit that is woven through this book. I understood it and found it to be understandable in context to the storyline. I just found the character to be a little too selfish I understand how human the choices were but I just could not like it when those choices have an affect on someone else who does not have all of the information they should have. I also felt the forgiveness and resolution came a little too easily. I wonder if some residual...more

Just finished reading this one last night.

I very good read. I enjoy reading books about the Amish. Even though they are fictional, I get to enter their world, which is so different from my own, and spend a few hours. It makes me appreciate my family relationships more, because the Amish are all about their families.

There are two stories going on in An Honest Love. This first is about Anna. She has moved to Ohio to break free from her past relationship where she was jilted. She has come to open...more

I really enjoyed this book. Wonderful read for everyone who loves a light, Amish fiction story. I enjoy romance novels as well as Christian fiction do this book was perfect! I loved that the author not only wrote about Lukas and Anna, but developed all the characters and drew you in to Middlefield. You get to know the community and everyone in it. As with her other book you follow not only Anna’s love story but Lukas’ sister Elizabeth’s as well. I couldn’t put down this book and when I was fini...more

This is the second in Kathleen Fuller's "A Hearts Of Middlefield" series, and I enjoyed it as much as the first. Although, I was hoping it would start where A Man of His Word left off. In this book you get two love stories. There's Anna & Lukas and Elisabeth and Aaron.

Anna had her heart broke by the man she was engaged to marry after he called off the wedding for no reason. Her mother and her decide to move to Middlefield, Ohio to take care of her father's brother who is having health probl...more

This book #2 in the Hearts of Middlefield novels. I like how Kathleen Fuller puts two love stories in her books. Anna really annoyed me, but I loved Lucas. I loved how forward he was. One of my quotes at the bottom is an example of that.

I loved, loved, loved that Aaron Detweiler became a stronger part of this story. In the last book he played a very minor role but I was intrigued by him and all his mopey, quiet, brooding behavior. I really enjoyed watching Elisabeth draw him out. Elisabeth was...more

I really enjoyed book 1 in this series, A Man of His Word and was excited to read An Honest Love. I really enjoyed the story of Anna and Lukas as well as Lukas's sister, Elisabeth and would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Amish fiction, however those who are avid fans may have some issues with dialogue between the characters and the plum colored dress worn by one of the characters. Would an Amishwoman wear a purple dress or say a person was a "pistol?" I don't know a lot about the Amish b...more

An Honest Love was a combination of a mystery and romance rolled up into one. I am so used to reading Amish romance that this made it nice change
There were duel stories going on here. First we find the love story of Elizabeth and Aaron. Aaron is quiet and obedient since he joined the church. He has a secret he is hiding. Elizabeth is drawn to him yet she is interested in joining her English friends. Can she learn from Aaron’s mistakes before it is too late? Then we have Anna’s story. She, her mo...more

I did not like this book as much as the first one in the series (which I loved), but I did like it. The writing was great. The author did a great job of portraying the Amish’s beliefs. I *loved* the secondary character’s romance, maybe even more than Anna’s. I would recommend this book to someone who loves Amish fiction.

An Honest Love by Kathleen Fuller
I liked reading this series, Anna had her heart broke when her finance left abruptly and she keeps her feelings gaurded now, can anyone break through this barrier and show her love.
Anna and her mother move to Ohio to start life anew.
Jenna
Enjoyed it. There was such a substantial subplot involving another set of characters that I felt that such should either have been indicated on the back cover or that the two plots could have been separate books.
Jen
I purchased this book when it was cheap for my Kindle and though I don't love Amish stories, this one was pretty good. I won't be looking for other books in the series unless they're free and convenient.
Cynthia
This story let us see that even the Amish have to go through the facts of live even when they choose to be different in this world. But it also show us that love works all problems out, time as well.
Allison
Love these because they're so amazingly clean. And Midwestern.

Enjoyed part 2 of the series. Call me mushy, but not sure an unhappy ending would keep me reading. On to book 3.
