So this series, much like Kyo Shirodaira's previous series Spiral: The Bonds of Reasoning, ended not with a bang but with a whimper.

The fight with the aliens was underwhelming despite the amount of time spent setting up for them. The final battle between Strauss and the Black Swan was also somewhat underwhelming as compared to the fight with Yuki at the start of the series.

It was getting good in the middle there, but this ending was just disappointing.

When I first started reading this series, I had to make a decision when the aliens showed up: did I want to continue reading?

Ultimately, I decided to give the series a chance, and I'm glad I did. The plot is woven delicately, pushing toward the inevitable.
While predictable in outcome, this final volume of the series is done well and that definitely counts. While the series is a bit rough edged at the beginning, it grew into a solid, if decidedly different, vampire thriller well worth the reading.
A very nice ending to this series, all the story lines are wrapped up well. There is a few more revelations in this very twisty tale.
