The second edition is updated to reflect the times and as such you will find questions such as What is a smartphone? and What is a test-tube baby? You will also find questions like What should I do if a find a gun? Should I tell my parents if I'm being bullied? and What happens when we die?

The answers are straightforward, easy to understand and not prejudiced in any way. For example the What happens when we die question doesn't talk about life after death or heaven but focus on what happens to t...more

This is the second edition of The Handy Answer Book for Kids (and Parents). It's a fun book of answers to questions kids 4 thru 16 (or so) are likely to ask about the world around them. It has about 800 questions and answers which seems like quite a lot to me. The focus is on the broad sorts of questions kids ask. Like why is the sky blue? And who was the first man in space? It is not, however, like an encyclopedia where you would send a child who has to do a paper on Helen Keller. (It's more fu...more

I truly love this book. Not only does it answer and talk about a very broad range of topics that many children are curious about, but I also found the facts and answers extremely interesting. The Handy Answer Book is the perfect book for children to use to inquire within, as well as a delightfully fun book for parents and children to sit down and enjoy together. In my honest opinion, this is a book that every house should have and one that should be in every classroom and grace every shelf.

Whether you are a parent or not, this book is a great reference book to have handy. Answers to almost 800 different questions are provided in a very simple manner. The book itself is beautiful, almost every other page contains a colourful picture on thick, glossy paper. I'm still in awe as I flip through the book.

The book is broken down into 10 sections:

Outer Space
Planet Earth & Our Moon
Creatures Big & Small
Plant Life
People Around the World
Politics & Government
How Things Work
Math, M...more

Why do leaves change color in Autumn? Should I tell my parents I am being bullied? How do airplanes fly? Why is the Grand Canyon unique?
These are just a few of the questions The Handy Answer Book for Kids answers. This book answers questions for kids around ages 4-12. Being a parent, I found this book to be a great resource for children. Sometimes children ask questions that need 'googling' or a dictionary to answer. The Handy Answer Book for Kids really answers alot of these questions, and the...more

A fun book full of interesting questions and answers on lots of different topics - science, math, geography, etc. Some questions better for parents to decide the answers for their children (religious or philosophical). Full review at One Librarian's Book Reviews. Review copy provided by publicist.
