This novel got off to a pretty good start. It is a quick, uncomplicated read, something one reads strictly for entertainment. In the beginning, there is John Crossworth, his wife, Sarah, a spiteful upstart sister, and a dad that wants nothing to do with him anymore. He has been away from home for nine years and is bringing his new bride home to basically, rub his fortune in his hometown's face.
