Later in life, when conversation turned to books one read as a child...and after exhausting my fond memories of Frog and Toad...I recalled this character.
"Who?"

"You're pronouncing it wrong. It's Uh-mee-lee-ah Buh-dee-lee-ah. Hold on."
"Where are you going?"
"Making sure I didn't miss taking my pill."
So, note: "Amelia Bedelia" doesn't rhyme with "Oh-Hell-yeah Regalia".

This is a combined review of mom and daughter. I think as I child I loved this one as much as my daughter. As an adult, a little bit less because of the repetitiveness in the read aloud. I found myself wanting to just say Amelia instead of Amelia Bedelia. However, I still would happily continue reading this to my little one.

I read a lot of Amelia Bedelia books growing up. I remember her doing all kinds of strange things but didn't remember what. It was nice to revisit this book after such a long time. Amelia Bedelia is another one of my favorite books for young readers. I remember reading these stories countless times with my parents as a child. Amelia Bedelia. What can I say. I always wanted my parents to hire a maid, but I could never decided if I wanted Amelia Bedelia or Hazel.

Four stars today, adding a fifth star because of how much I loved this as a child.
And it's still hard not to like Amelia Bedelia. She is such an adorable, unintentionally funny individual, so earnest. It's hard to really be mad at her for doing what she thought was right, though she makes a mess of things (I'm sure many kids can relate to that!). I discovered recently that, not only was Amelia Bedelia one of my favorite books when I was growing up, but it was also one of my teachers' favorites and it's one of my students' favorite books as well! What's not to love about the happy-go-lucky housekeeper who can bake the most delicious treats and always has a smile on her face? Oh, yeah, and who always takes every statement perfectly literally resulting in many comedic, if not hap-hazard, happenings.

This story stirs many childhood memories and is a favorite I still keep on my bookshelf. Amelia is a maid who can never get it right and her hilarious mishaps make for a great read for children. Ameliea Bedelia by Peggy Parish is one of my all time favs! I remember this book when I was in like 3rd grade! You really can't fault Amelia for her way of thinking, technically she is right! I love the ending and how pie can bring everybody together and make everybody forget what was wrong in the first place. I think this book will never get old in my book.

Amelia Bedelia is a housekeeper for the Rogers. She is given a list of chores she must do and while she does complete her list, she takes her tasks too literal. Amelia is like a child; for she does not understand simple things like drawing, the drapes to her that means to actually drawing drapes on a canvas when she should be moving them to let in the sunlight. I had this book as a child, although mine was an even older edition in monochrome, with a different illustrator.
Some people think this is just a funny book, but I think it's a great book to show kids that there is nothing wrong with being a little quirky and different, and that everyone is special in their own way.

This is one of my all time favorite stories. Amelia Bedlia is a woman who just can't seem to get things right as her new job as a house maid, even though she reads each of her instructions carefully.
