UniquelyMoi ... So I Can Shine...
From the cover:

What is the price of love?

Nick Gentry is reputed to be the most skillful lover in all England. Known for solving delicate situations, he is hired to seek out Miss Charlotte Howard. He believes his mission will be easily accomplished --but that was before he met the lady in question.
For instead of a willful female, he discovers one in desperate circumstances, hiding from a man who would destroy her very soul. So Nick shockingly offers her a very different kind of proposition -- one...more
I loved Nick Gentry since his first appearance in 'Lady Sophia´s Lover', the previous book in this series. After reading 'Worth Any Price', I´m pleased to say I´m not disappointed. :) Yes, he wasn´t perfect and did some unpleasant (to put it mildly) things in the past, but LK did a wonderful job "justifying" his actions. I just couldn´t not love Nick!

I loved Lottie too. She was strong and much able to fend for herself, even though she herself doubt it sometimes. In summary, she was the perfect w...more

This woman is still my go-to when I find myself slipping further and further into bad reads.

If I'm going to read fluff, it might as well be fun fluff. Kleypas brings the fun every time. Well, almost every time. I'm still trying to forget about Christmas at Friday Harbor.

Books 1 and 2 of the Bow Street Runners were not my favorite offerings from Kleypas. I almost decided not to read Worth Any Price in favor of checking out one of her other series which I haven't read yet. I'm glad now that I fo...more
Nick Gentry, former crime lord turned Bow Street runner, is hired to find the elusive Miss Charlotte Howard, Lord Radnor’s unwilling fiancée. Nick is to hunt the reluctant bride down and bring her back to his groom-to-be no matter what.

For Nick, known for his knack in solving “delicate” situations, this should be an easy mission. The playfield shifts when he finally meets her.

Charlotte Howard is desperate and prepared to do anything to escape a fate worst than death as the obsessed Lord Radnor’s...more

This was a light and really enjoyable read. At the end it a got a bit intense but I felt like it fell a little flat, like the author was rushing to finish it. Also (view spoiler). Then there was the epilogue, honestly, I wanted it to be more about Nick and Lottie and less about Sophia and Ross.
As I started to read Worth Any Price, I kept flipping back to the cover to make sure I was reading a LK book and not another author by mistake. I’ve read a good amount of LK books and enjoy her style of writing greatly, but with Worth Any Price it was very unusual style that differ from other LK books I’ve read so far, one with more of a teasing sensual level,. I’ve only found in one other of her books. Rating this book was also tough, as it was a different take on LK’s style, but not in a bad w...more
This was an amazing book! From very early on in the story I knew two things: Nick was going to become one of my favorite heroes, if not my very favorite, and this book was going to be one of the top favorites of my all-time favorite books! I give this book 10 stars!!

When we first met Nick Gentry in Lady Sophia's Lover I had my doubts about him. I don't really know what it was that bothered me about him, maybe he seemed cocky or something, but to be honest I wasn't that thrilled about reading his...more

Dear Nick Gentry,

I want to sincerely apologize for my extreme dislike of you in Lady Sophia's Lover. I am going to attribute it to the fact that I didn't really know you and the fact that you only showed me your Extreme Jerk-Off side in the previous book.

Over three years later, I now see that I judged you too quickly. All you needed was someone to give you a chance at a better life to prove your worth. Thank God you were able to receive that cha...more
5+ stars – Historical Romance

WOW! This is another beautiful, romantic, evocative, and lushly sensual read from the master of historical romance, Lisa Kleypas. I absolutely loved it! Big 5 stars!
Barks & Bites
Worth Any Price by Lisa Kleypas is the sequel to her lovely historical romance “Lady Sophia’s Lover” but it easily stands alone and is just as lovely as its prequel.

Charlotte (Lottie) Howard has successfully escaped an arranged marriage to a wretched man who had grand plans of controlling every aspect of her life. She’s been in hiding for two years, pleasantly spending her time as a lady’s companion. Though she misses her siblings, and even her grasping parents, her life in hiding is preferable...more
Thank God for snow days! I turned off my phones, locked all of the doors and put my kiddos busy so I could finish one book and start "Worth Any Price". I could not put the book down and managed to finish it the same day. I can't believe I let this one sit in my TBR pile for so long!

When the book opened with Nick Gentry arriving at the doorstep of an upscale brothel, I had my doubts. Nick could not tolerate the touch of any human being and he managed to work through his deeper issues with the hel...more

This one would have gotten four stars from me if not for the dangling plot point regarding Charlotte's family. Seriously, her parents were tossing their daughters at rich, psychotic perverts and we're not gonna revisit that topic? Sloppy.

If I had thought Sir Ross was an insatiable and creative man, Nick Gentry just blew me away.

Our infamous crime lord/thief-taker was offered a job by his brother-in-law at the end of the previous book to work as an official runner. This story takes place three years later, when Nick Gentry is dispatched by a man with an ugly soul, Lord Radnor, to find and bring back his runaway bride, Charlotte Howard. It takes Nick surprisingly longer than he probably imagined to find Lottie Howard but when he d...more
Cam Rohan, Hardy Cates, Jack Travis, Derek Craven, Leo Hathaway.... Lisa Kleypas creates hero's that make you drool, sigh and remember fondly for weeks after reading their book. Nick Gentry has been added to that illustrious list with this book.

To say that Nick is a tortured soul is like saying Nora Roberts is a prolific writer. He just is, and yet I still love him. He is the brother of Sophia from Lady Sophia's Lover and a somewhat former bad boy who is now a Bow Street Runner. He takes chances...more

3.5 stars. I loved the first 150 pages (about 40%). The rest was only ok because it was too ordinary.

I’m looking for great stories with creativity. The potential was here, but it wasn’t developed as I would have liked. I enjoyed the characters Nick and Lottie.

Nick was orphaned as a child, lived on the streets and was abused in a prison ship. He became a famous crime lord. Then he became a good guy by joining the Bow Street Runners for three years. Because of his chil...more
It's always hard for a book to live up to high expectations. Lisa Kleypas writing never disappoints, but there were things about this book that were just not my preference. For one, Worth Any Price rates rather high in the heat scale. That in itself is not something I'd normally complain about. However to me it seemed like the romance took a back seat to all the heat. The couple doesn't spent much time together, at least in getting to know each other anyways. I rather like some steam in my roman...more

Three word describe Nick Gentry very well. Dangerous. Intense. Haunted. Lisa Kleypas manages to bring all of this out of the page and made me fall in love with Nick right along side Lottie, the heroine of this book.

It has been a while since I have read a Lisa Kleyas novel and I can't believe I had forgotten the experience of failing head long in to the book and being so involved with all the characters, making me feel their trials and tribulations, happiness and elation right along with them. I...more

Very simply, Lisa Kleypas is the Joe Dimaggio of Historical Romance. Her stories have a smoothness, grace and power that is absolutely unmatched, and she carves out each tale with cool perfection and ease. Effortlessly summoning up all the luxury and allure of Victorian manners, clothing and cuisine, she combines the glamorous settings with deeply engrossing characters and raw, almost modern sexual pyrotechnics.

Nick Gentry was the villain in the previous novel, LADY SOPHIA'S LOVER. As a bold mas...more

I loved this book about Nick Gantry. It's preceded by Lady Sophia's Lover, although it could be stand alone. I have listened to every one of Lisa K's books, with a few exceptions. Granted I may not remember all the plots, but lady Sophia's Lover and Worth Any Price are two favorites of mine. Nick Gantry is a tortured bad guy, redeemed with the help of his sister and her husband (a Bow Sreet Runner). On the way to redemption, he finally meets a woman to spend his life with. He has a secret, a rea...more
Hard to say which of these 3 I liked the most... I think this one... I loved the h/h and thought they were well matched... not much in the way of mystery or suspense but I just really liked this one. Sad to see the series over!

Worth Any Price is the 3rd and final installment to the Bow Street Runner series, and it is by far one of the better books that Kleypas has written. We have our villain from Lady Sophia's Lover, Nick Gentry, working respectfully for Bow Street and taking commissions on the side for additional income. He’s currently working for Lord Radnor who is missing his betrothed, Catherine Howard. Nick has managed to track her down to Stony Cross Park, home to none other than Marcus, Lord Westcliffe –...more
All I can really say is that I really loved this read. It was very close to my favorite shelf...

There were some issues with the character development of Nick Gentry...I'm not sure I totally understood his insta-attraction as it was explained, but it sure as heck didn't keep me from falling for the handsome devil.

There was a wane in actual plot towards the middle where it was nothing but coupling and this was probably the closest thing to erotica that Lisa Kleypas has written. But the steamy sce...more
So...sex.And yeah...sex.And...well-sex.
It had too much of it and nothing of the good in-betweens that I love when it comes to Lisa Kleypas. They were small and dull.
Yes,he goes to hunt Lottie.
Yes,he marries her himself.
Yes,he dreams of his hurtful past.
Blah blah blah, and then they realize their love for each other so they become healed an happy just like that-poof!
La-la land here we come!
It was just...not special.I could have just read the summary and not miss a thing.
Oh and the part where they...more
No major misteps, enjoyable to read, but bland and predictable. And some many things were just so...convenient. It was odd...and boring.

She focuses on a lot of scenes you've seen a hundred times before, and I remember reading a few things she skimmed over that, if gone into more detail, would have made this a more interesting read.

I did like Nick's audacity and balls in telling Lord R how it was going to be before he was even married. I was intrigued by the thread of him reapplying himself, but...more
OMG, I loved it. I wasn't happy about the first book in this series because it was not as good as other LK's books. Then the second one was a bit better, maybe as good asthe ones I enjoyed the least in her best series. But this one was right there with the best.

I loved the hero so much. I wanted to read Nick's story since his very first appearance. And Lotti was awesome as well

Does anybody know if there will be more books in this series. I would definitely read the doctor's story. Or the other...more
Re-read 2/18/13 - I adore Nick and Lottie. I'm so glad I reread theor story. Kleypas at her best.

I've already re-read this book three times this year, it's that good.

I heart Nick. He's still my favorite (Well, ok, that's subject to change depending on what book I'm currently reading but still..he's right up there) of Kleypas' heroes. I adore him.

I love that Lottie is the strong one in their relationship and takes such care with him. This one definitely holds up.
I read this out of order and loved it. Very good book.
The author chose to make him a virgin at the age twenty four-something you NEVER come across in romance books,no matter what age they are.&instead of the author having him wait til he met his wife, because we know he's going to meet his wife in the book, she has him go to a freakin brothel. i think that's all i need to say.
if you're gunna make him a virgin, you may as well have him wait for his wife. but NO! this author likes writing trash.
i was completely and utterly disgusted. i literally th...more

“No matter how strong our resolve, we eventually find ourselves enslaved by the compulsive preference for one particular woman. You’ve been caught, my friend. You may as well reconcile yourself to it.” Nick did not bother trying to deny it. “I was going to be so much smarter than you,” he muttered. Sir Ross grinned. “I prefer to think that intelligence has nothing to do with it. For if a man’s intellect is measured by his ability to remain untouched by love, I would be the greatest idiot alive.” 9 likes
“You took advantage of me while I was sleeping," she said breathlessly. "That's not fair."
Gentry's hand moved over her hip in a slow circle."I seldom play fair. It's usually easier to cheat."
A sudden laugh bubbled in Lottie's throat. "You are the most shameless man I've ever encountered."
"Probably," he conceded, pushing her hair aside and lowering his smiling mouth to the back of her neck.”
