At first, I thought High Moon was just about werewolves, and I was seriously wrong. High Moon might contain werewolves, but it tackles so much more in its short, three-chapter graphic novel that it is almost offensive to assume that Gallaher and Ellis were making only a werewolf comic.

This was a cool little book. I have a weakness for Occult Westerns (yes, there are such things as Occult Westerns), and this one was a lot of fun. It told a three-part story with adventure, mystery, and some great plot twists that I didn't see coming. The book is populated with some great characters (I love each and every one of the MacGregors), and the art is pretty great too: loose and fluid, almost painted in some parts. I found the lettering to be a little small, it might have been nice ...more
I absolutely loved this. I too thought that this would be a simple werewolf western - and what I got seemed to be a modern version of the Cuchulain mythology. There's a whole lot here to digest, but as a whole this is one of the most interesting comics I've read in a long time. Gallaher's dialogue is very precise (maybe too much so?) - and his words are perfectly illustrated by Ellis, who has a rich and lavish palette. There seems to be a long game at play - the unresolved puzzles and mysteries ...more
I'd like to give this 3 a half stars. It was hard to follow at first but it all came together nicely towards the end. The story and art were hard to follow a little bit at first, but the story came together nicely. Though there were many unanswered questions it seems it may continue. I hope so, as by the end of it it was really cookin'! I really liked the art too!
The writing was pretty rough for most of it, but it pulled together near the end. The art was top shelf though. And it's got cowboys and werewolves. That's a good combination. I'll get the next volume when it comes out.

I wanted to like this, but I just didn't. I had a hard time understanding what was going on (much less caring) and the characters were confusing. Give this one a pass.
I have followed this book online for some time. Good to see it collected.
Story was a little rough and hard to follow. Art was phenomenal.
Interesting combination of werewolves & vampires in the Wild, Wild West.
While the images are very striking, and the color is very beautifully used, the narrative itself was jumbled. Characters were not established very well before they changed without warning. I felt like I was out of the loop during most of this rushed story.
The images however, were captivating. There was great movement and energy in the illustrations and that seemed to carry the book when the narrative faltered.
