Carlitos Caprioli
The obsession that this powerful newspaper director precipitates into is described with force. The female lead is beautifully complex and confused and trapped, trying to set herself free from his power. End is sort of movie-ish, but until then it traps you inside this guy's totally fucked up mind and his justifying every act of violence. Makes you think about when you justify your own actions, where you're coming from. It gets so sick, and his being a man of power in Argentina, he does not hesit...more

double. everything is connected to everything else. Read again fall semester 2007--not as good the second time.

This book is very well-written with complex psychology behind all of the main characters and interesting allusions to Argentina's history and culture.

It also really creeped me out.
