“I’ve loved you from the first moment I saw you. I’ve always loved you, every day through all the years. I never stopped loving you. Even when I lay with Randall, it was you I was with in my heart.” She smiled softly. “That was yours from the first, and will be yours to the last."

This book was beautifully fast paced and well me this one 'Bastion Series ' Best ! The best thing about this book was that there was an ACTUAL reason for the hero and heroine to have fallen
I'm giving this one 4 stars, but that might be a little generous because though I did enjoy this one quite a bit, there were still some things I didn't like.

Christian is the last remaining bachelor of the Bastion Club, a group he and he friends formed so that they could find wives THEY wanted, not who they got pushed with. Like the others, he wants to marry, but his heart still belongs to the woman he loved and lost years before. She'd broken his heart and was unreachable. Until he receives a di

“The Edge of Desire” is Stephanie Laurens sixth book of her ‘Bastion Club’ regency novels. In short, the heroes of these novels have returned from the Napoleonic wars and found themselves prime bait for the matchmaking mamas of the ton. They formed their own club (hence the name) and decided to make their own decisions regarding their future wives as they have each now succeeded to their titles and need to marry to carry on the family name. I’ve
The heroine was a haughty conceited and unpleasant posh. Completely unlikable.
Moreover the author kept the mystery behind her marriage to another man, while secretly betrothed to Christian for over 110 pages, 1/3rd of the book, and that definitely killed all feelings I might have had for her if I had learnt all before.
I hated how she ordered him around, without giving him the tenth of the information he needed to pursue the investigation. Honestly in those conditions, I would have simply refused
My second book by Stephanie Laurens, I have read my first one only few months ago and I was eager to read another one. Although, I think this one was not as good as the previous one - A Gentleman's Honor.

I enjoyed the suspense part. It was interesting and well-constructed. It kept me guessing, even though it was not really innovative. But it had the atmosphere and it was enough complicated, even if a little bit slow sometimes. The suspense part definitely dominated the plot, the romance part was

When I first read this book, I thought it was okay and that the author really had some promise if she could learn to focus more on driving the plot and less on explaining every deatial of the charaters' motives. Then to find out this author is an international best-seller and had written almost 50 books--well, I just couldn't believe it.

An experienced author like this really should understand the elements of "show, don't tell" and should have a balance between charater and plot. That alone made

Yah.. Emang keren kok ceritanya.. Romantis dari Awal.. hahahha...

Sempet sebel sama Letitia nya... tapi ternyata.. Emang salah Christian... hahahhha...

Gw suka cara Christian memperjuangkan Letitia disini.. manisnya... xD

Dalziel banyak banget peran disini... Feeling gw sih.. karna dia masih ada hubungan keluarga sama keluarga Vaux, keluarga nya Letitia (bener ga yaaahhh??? #Sotoy)

Abis ini mau baca Dalziel...

Dalziel.. dalziel.. Dalziel.. xD

Sangat disayangkan. Aku haru

This was a murder mystery storyline with a ton of sex. The love story wasn't really there, though. Christian and Letitia were sweethearts, but he went off to be a spy and she got forced into a marriage to save her family's funds. her husband was murdered, and she asked Christian to help her clear her brother's name (the main suspect) and to find the real killer. They have a lot of sex, and find the killer Sherlock Holmes style. While I think it was a good storyline, it bored me a bit.

We finally get Christian Allardyce, Marquess of Dearne story. This story is very different from all the others. Christian is already in love with someone but she is married to another man. In all his searching for a bride none has caught his attention. He is surprised when the woman that he thinks betrayed him is at the Bastion Club needing his help. What follows is a murder investigation and Christian and Letitia Vaux finding the love they both thought had long died. The members of the Bastion ...more

OUCH! I didn't even get through the first five chapters. I am sorry but I refuse to finish a romance where the couple gets together in the biblical way within the first three chapters of the book. What is to keep my interest now? The big secret our fiesty heroine is keeping? Sorry but we all have secrets but not all of us have hunky men after us.
Picked this up at the airport in Las Vegas out of desperation after missing my flight. To put it simply, this book is absolutely terrible. I passed it off to a friend who is a fan of earlier books by author Laurens and she thought it was awful too. Went directly to the donation pile. Really an awful book.

Once upon a time there were seven men.
All had returned from behind the enemy lines.

Once they had returned home they realized that they had more dangerous situations to come.

They start their own club - the Bastion Club - and the story starts as each member identifies the woman they want to marry and set out to woo her.

I sorta liked the whole concept...but it was sooooo dragged out! I actually couldn't finish it. I usually finish a book in one night but I found myself taking 2 nights to only read 210 pages because I kept putting it down out of boredom!
Letitia merasa putus asa dan pilih ...more

Not sure why I keep reading this series, since most of the books are very similar to one another. Just the Hero and Heroine change. Guess the author has a way with words? Characters?

All I know is that if she'd trim 50 pages or so and cut through all the vacillating crap where the Heroine has a secret or something she's keeping to herself because she doesn't know if she can trust the Hero... and the Hero has his own agenda about deciding the Heroine is THE ONE for him, except he figures

This is the 8th book in the Bastion Club Series by Stephanie Laurens, but it is not the best in the series.

Christian Allardyce (Marquess of Dearne) is the last of the Bastion Club men to wed. He has been back in London for 10 months, after 12 years working undercover for the government overseas when he receives a note from his former love Letitia Randall asking for his help in clearing her brother of her husband’s murder. Christian thought she had betrayed her love for him by marrying someone el
I have been slowing down on reading Stephanie Laurens, since she has joined the writers who think frequent sentence fragmentation and unnecessary and additional paragraphs add something to the writing. As far as I can tell, it just makes the writing choppy. I wanted to at least finish the Bastion Club books before dropping her altogether, however. If you skip the sex scenes that add absolutely nothing to the plot and get very repetitive throughout the series (I regularly skip them in almost all ...more
I've just finished rereading this book for a second time. I'm sorry to see that all the Bastian club members are now married but there is at least one more story to tell, and perhaps, two.

I've read reviews elsewhere that complain that the book is a bit slow and perhaps it is but this is my second read and I think that it was necessary for Letitia and Christian to work out the complication that is their lives. Laurens did this in a slow but by no means meaningless way. I appreciated the way the

Possibly one of the most engaging Bastions I've read so far, due to the depth of the mystery on the one hand, and the intransigence of the heroine on the other. I simply adore a heroine who refuses to let the hero coddle her, and in Letitia that's exactly what the reader has. She is awesome, in the true sense of the word. She refuses to let Derne, Dalziel, or any of the Bastion club overrule her, and she is as much a part of solving the puzzle as any of them.

For as much of a puzzle as there is

They were lovers years before but certain unfortunate circumstances led to them being apart. This book was very fun. It combined mystery and romance in a historical setting. I love the old fashioned mystery stories where the detective has to use logic and context clues instead of just calling in the CSI team and getting a DNA match. This was a very well done mystery. I was surprised by the murderer but satisfied. And there was plenty of suspense.

I really liked the characters. Christian and Letitia were fully develop

awalnya di suguhi dengan perasaan Christian, bagaimana rasanya di hianati, bagaimana janji yg udah di buat bertahun2 yg lalu di hianati Letitia, berharap banget Letitia bakalan nungguin dia pulang perang, taunya malah merit sama orang laen huks!

I liked this one better than I have a lot of Laurens books. I think perhaps because it had a really good mystery plot to go with a really good romance plot, and not so many love scenes that they got boring. (Yeah, I know.) The hero and heroine have a past. He thinks she threw him over for money. She thinks he abandoned her. They're both right, but there are Reasons (of course). When the book opens, the heroine has just come to beg the hero for help. Her husband's been found murdered in a locked ...more
