This was an unexpected treat. Even though I am a Foreign Service Officer, I have never wanted to read a nonfiction book about life in the FS by a former FS. I just would have assumed it was self glorifying and annoyingly obvious. I read this book in one day. It was a page turner and I felt compelled to continue to read. Some of the actual Embassy life/times/speak is outdated so it's not like every aspect of the book is something that is happening now. And I would have preferred a real country ...more
