This story should've been the best in this (so far) surprisingly good trilogy, but unfortunately it tanked. Big time.

Something just didn't click for me. Maybe it had to do with the pacing, extremely slow and uneventful compared to the previous two books. Maybe it had to do with the heroine, who was whiny and rather wimpy for a big-animal veterinarian and rancher's wife. Maybe it had to do with the lack of chemistry between the hero and heroine. I don't know, maybe it was the combo of everything
I read the first couple of chapters and I could have sworn that I had read this book before. It wasn't until I had passed my "give-up" page that I realized that I had read this book before. Or if I hadn't, I read one extremely like it. I didn't like that one either.

Cassie grew up in a small town at the very tip of southern Illinois. A tomboy, she spent most of her time outside and got into big trouble for breaking the trellis while climbing out her second-story bedroom window.

When her family moved to L.A., major culture shock ensued. She discovered that grapefruits grew on trees, television offered more than two channels, and all the other girls had breasts.
