The uneasy balance between cute magical girl/pop idol/bunnies and cats and tragedy in this story, always inherent in a magical girl story about a twelve year old with suicidal ideation dying of throat cancer, tips firmly over to the morbid depressingness side of things in this volume. The first half is about Mitsuke's unbearable pain, the final bit is Meroko's horrible backstory - I ended the volume in tears. Mitsuki continues her dual life and is halted by an obstacle. Her beloved Eichi-kun comes to mind and the shinigami find out the secret she stored safely in her heart. The wheels begin to turn and Mitsuki has little choice but to move on.
This will always be a touching story to me and i will never forget how good it is.

Saaaaaaaaaaad. Auuugh... but, still good. Boy, everybody has a terribly sad backstory (I guess that makes sense considering they're all suicides) and they're all connected to Mitsuki's family. Yeesh.
Who knew that a series that started out so shallow and cutesy, would in 3 volumes get all dark and angsty? And all for the better.
