Well, let's just say I am not a fan of this manga. Meg Cabot is an awesome writer and I would have preferred to read this story as a book. I do not like that fact that she turned it into a manga and I'm not only saying that because the manga was totally dramatic. And plus, I'm into Japanese manga and this didn't look like one. :/
She should write this story instead of leaving it as a manga. I think a lot of people will agree with me.

I bought this book cheap at the school's Book Fair. Because I'm not into graphic novels, my class library's graphic novel shelf is rather bare. I decided I needed to add some new books to it but I was nervous to do so. Graphic novels are so expensive and so many of my books have disappeared off the shelves in the past year. It's getting expensive to stock my shelves!

I am not into manga but, after a few pages, this book drew me in. At first, I struggled with the artwork and figuring our who was w

Okay, I haven't read Avalon High... and... I guess maybe you kind of need to in order to fully appreciate this book. It gives a brief overview of the premise in the first chapter - at Avalon High, many of the students are possibly reincarnations of Arthurian characters. Now, it's theorized that in order for Elaine's boyfriend, football player/Arthur, to save the world, he must learn who he is and accept it. The only problem is that Elaine can't think of how to convince him that this crazy prophe ...more

A really dreadful adaptation of a YA novel by Meg Cabot into an original English-language manga. Mediocre from the art to the story to the character development. I slogged through all three volumes - because I had them checked out from the library and they were short - but I wouldn't recommend this manga to anyone. The premise is interesting enough - several teens discover that they are the reincarnation of key characters from the time of King Arthur and Avalon, from Arthur himself (embodied in ...more

I thought that Avalon High was one of Meg Cabot’s best books, a predictable (but satisfying) triumph-of-the-new-girl-in-school overlaid with a supernatural twist. Once I found out (thanks Julia!) that this was not just a manga version of the same story but an actual sequel, I knew I wanted to read it. Fortunately, I read it in about half an hour. Unfortunately, it wasn’t really very enjoyable. A large chunk of it recaps the plot of Avalon High, so not much really happens. And the fact that it is ...more

I thought I bought a paperback edition, I got a library binding instead. My first library binding! Did I like it? Nope.

The cover is too dark and it's weird to read a Tokyopop publication in hardback. It doesn't seem natural.

I've read the original book years ago in Italian and I liked it. I've also seen the movie probably and I was curious about the graphic novel adaptation.

Is it a good OEL adaptation? Nope. It's bad, ugly, and the characters have too big boobs to be real.

The first 50 pages or

does not translate well to graphic novel. Plus, the first 50 pages are just a recap of what happened in the novel. and a poorly done recap at that. Also, since our heroine is supposed to be a bit of a plain-jane, why on earth is she pictured as a HUGE busted hot chick? Manga is no excuse for poor characterization.

I loved the first book, Avalon High, but I hated this one. It might have been good if they would ahve just written it as a normal book.

Avalon High is one of my all time favorite books. I love it so much! Obviously I had to read the sequel even if it is in graphic novel form.

I enjoyed this short little fun thing. It's very short and the art style is a little bit weird. It's not really anything like I pictured.

I never read this kind of book, so I don't know how it compares to other books. I mostly just enjoyed it as a sequel to Avalon High. You know when you really love a book, you will do anything to know what happens next?

Chapter one starts with what feels like a basic run down on what must be the plot of the novel. We now meet up with Ellie who is dating Will, who happens to be the reincarnation of Prince Arthur or at least that is what Mr. Morton (otherwise known as Merlin) believes. All the other kids in Ellie's group seem to have counterparts from the Arthurian Legend as well and the Prophecy says that King Arthur will return to save the world if Will truly believes he is that reincarnation. A book that sound ...more

The sequel to one of Meg Cabot's previous books Avalon High takes on a different form than most of her sequels: it is being printed as a three-volume manga. While there has been some controversy from fans over if this was a good idea or not, the manga is still just as good as any novel sequel. Most of the first volume is a recap of the entire Avalon High book, but focusing more on the ending. The real story starts in Chapter 2, which begins with a beautiful two-page picture of Jennifer and Lance ...more

Avalon High was a joy to read, yet frustrating at the same time. This is a continuation of the novel of the same name by Meg Cabot. While I really enjoyed the novel, the first volume of the manga series is almost blah. The beginning was really well done. The back story was given, and all the characters were nicely introduced. Yet for the rest of the first volume, it just seemed a little too repetitive. Ellie is constantly trying to find ways to tell or convince Will of the prophecy. While I unde ...more

This series is interesting because it actually starts with a book and then becomes a graphic novel. Avalon High introduces Ellie, Will, and the rest of the reincarnated bunch and then their stories continue in Manga form in Avalon High: Coronation. You can read the graphic novels without reading the novel first, but I think you'll get less out of them.

Coronation has the requisite super busty high school girls whose hair flows in that way that makes me think, "I wish I had Manga hair." Aside fro

GRAPHIC NOVEL CATEGORY

In this graphic novel sequel to Cabot's Avalon High, Ellie Harrison is struggling with the aftermath of the book's events. With Marco in an asylum, her boyfriend Will refusing to acknowledge his place as the reincarnated King Arthur despite Mr. Morton's (aka Merlin)insistence, and Will's ex-girlfriend Jennifer acting like their best friends, Ellie is having a rather hard time. Even more exciting, Will is the reincarnation of King Arthur who has saved Ellie for almost being killed. However, Will must truly feel that he is the reincarnation of King Arthur by this Friday; otherwise, the earth with be cursed with no peace forever.

This graphic novel obviously has a very cheesy plot line. Even worse, the

Being a new student at Avalon High has been pretty exciting for Ellie, to say the least. She is an honor student, a valuable member of the track team, and dating the super attractive class president, Will. Who also happens to be the alleged reincarnation of King Arthur. Ellie couldn't be happier to have Will in her life, but she's also worried that his estrangement from his parents is tearing him apart inside. Fans of Meg Cabot are treated to a change in style by the author. Paired with artist Jinky Coronado, Ms. Cabot retells AVALON HIGH in a comic/manga style. Readers do not have to have read AVALON HIGH to follow this new version of the story.

Elle Harrison has just moved to Annapolis with her history buff parents. Almost immediately weird things start to happen. Her history teacher, Mr. Morton, explains it as the return of King Arthur and the Age of Enlighten

Avalon High: Coronation Volume I: The Merlin Prophecy
Created and Written by Meg Cabot, Illustrated by Jinky Coronado

I grew up reading comics. I read them as a child and I collected them as an adult. I currently own 2 huge storage boxes filled with classics such as Ghost Rider, The Incredible Hulk, She Hulk, Wolverine, Sandman, Watchmen and more. For an MLS class, I needed to read two graphic novels. I thought to myself, ok, I can do this! I love comics, I love novels, what’s better than the two

Summary: This book is like the graphic novel version of a sequel to the novel Avalon High. The beginning is basically the re-telling of the first novel, and by the time the new information starts it is almost over. So Will (the reincarnated version of King Arthur) and Ellie (the reincarnated version of the Lady of the Shallot) are dating. His family life is bad so when he gets kicked out he comes and stays with Ellie and her family. Also unless Ellie can convince Will that he is King Arthur the ...more

Recommends it for: dire Meg Cabot fans.
I was really excited to see Cabot venturing into new media. This didn't disappoint - really.

She's got an exciting - if not a bit predictable plot - but the real bonus for me was the artwork. It's drawn in comic book style, which makes it fun to read. It goes fast - and is technically only the first part of the whole story - frustrating because most of it is an explanation of what happened in Avalon High. The plot of this series focuses on the return of Marco (or Mordred, they might say) and a n

Avalon High was a good book. Cabot’s tale of a new girl fitting in had a fresh supernatural twist weaved in. It was funny, intriguing and had all the makings of a fantastic sequel. But then Cabot had to go Manga…which was not necessarily a bad thing. While being quite a heathen where Manga is concerned, I was sufficiently intrigued to see the synergy of Meg Cabot’s writing and Jinky Coronado’s artwork.

Sadly, I felt a little let-down. The sequel was more like a flashback into Ellie and Will’s

This is the second graphic novel I've ever read. I'm starting to wonder why I went so long without reading them. This is a great one! King Author has been reincarnated as a high school boy. The problem is, he doesn't believe it. If he can't accept who he is, the prophecy will come true and the world will end. Can Ellie convince him of his true identity, or will she fail? Definitely a must read for all graphic novel readers and Meg Cabot fans. Loved it!

I expected so much more from Meg Cabot YA novel adaptation to a Manga, and it turned out to be miserable. I much prefer if this is a novel.

The plot was meh and I found the character to be one-dimensional and Elaine's life revolves around her boyfriend and homecoming. Yes there is an Arthurian element to it. But I thought it was lack of depth.

I would only recommend this to primary school kids who wish to read medieval-fantasy manga.

"The Merlin Prophecy" is a spin off graphic novel by Meg Cabot and illustrated by Jinky Coronado. The story itself is illustrated over 128 pages and continues Ellie's journey on trying to get Will to believe that he is the reincarnation of King Arthur. Personally, I disliked the whole book because the story was not as powerful as the first one and it had a lot of repetition from the original Avalon High. Meg Cabot books are also not made to be transformed into graphic novels because the graphics ...more

So this is the first manga out of the 3 that continues the story from Avalon High of Meg Cabot.

I was quite happy when I found them because I thought that Avalon High could have used a sequel or two hahaha and I like how she continued them through these.

Elle and Will are going on with their teenage lives along with their friends Jennifer and Lance. Things should be going great for them from now, but always the idea of the reincarnations will linger over them as Elle is now set with a mission from

I really liked the book this is based on, but this adaptation took away almost everything I enjoyed about the original Avalon High book. Ellie, a great character in the book, is very one-dimensional in this. I liked in Avalon High that she was strong and complex and flawed. This book makes her entire life about her boyfriend and things like being Homecoming queen. Disappointing.
