What I didn't realize when I bought the book was that the primary author was a college freshman. So a lot of the copy aside from the recipes is geared towards the young adult/college student. That doesn't mean the recipes don't apply for all ages but I am now intrigued to look into the other author's books (the mother). There are some great ideas in combining the recipes for a more comprehensive gift as well as packaging/presentation ideas that are more eco friendly. I don't regret the purchase...more

This book is a lot of fun, and there's a good mix of recipes for hair, nails, face, and body, all made with pretty simple-to-find ingredients. There are even a few clever ideas for packaging homemade beauty gifts with upcycled materials, such as a woven newspaper basket and a vinyl LP bowl.

The text is peppered with little "eco tip" sidebars with suggestions like turning the water off when shampooing your hair to save up to 50 gallons of water a week or using soap scraps to make liquid soap inst...more

This is one of the best homemade beauty product books that I've read. The recipes were easy to follow, the ingredients were very inexpensive, and the pictures were nice guides to follow. I also liked how the writer gave a desciption of each ingredient along with reasons of why that particular ingredient was needed in the product. I would read it again, and I would recommend it.

This book has easy and innovative receipes for making beauty products at home. I am looking at starting to make these things out of my house. The beginning is great because the author explains alot of ingredients and where to purchase them. They are also good for Holiday gifts. :) cant wait to make some.

Recently, I've been exploring essential oils and making my own skincare products and Eco Beauty is an absolutely great book. It's a great resource and very well illustrated with accompanying, easy to read recipes that look easy to prepare. I can't wait to make my first creation.

Buy it. A handy guide of recipes for creating your own facial or foot scrubs, bath salts, deodorants, shampoos, conditioners, and so on using natural ingredients. For eco-conscious peeps and anyone allergic or sensitive to commercial stuff.

So, I've made a facial scrub that was okay, and a mint/vinegar hair rinse that was also okay. I'm hoping to do a program at the library on diy beauty products. I just wanted to try out a few first to make sure I don't break out into a terrible rash. It's already been helpful- I learned not to pour vinegar in your eyes because it burns really bad. Who would've thought?

This was a good diy home beauty book. Not many of the recipes call for unreasonable or hard-to-obtain ingredients. I recommend it....more

I'm interested in trying some of the recipes to see how well they work. There is a little project at the end of the book on how to make a basket using 4 paper bags - cute idea.

I really like being able to make my own beauty care products ~ I've only done it a couple of times ~ but I always feel like since they are naturally made ~ they do seem to help me instead of making my hair or skin worst like other products.
I can't wait to try some of these! :)
