This was the first book by these authors. I learned of it's existence from our local town newspaper, the Vienna Connection. Karetta Hubbard actually lives in McLean. At times scenes in the book occur at our local Vienna Inn, an iconic restaurant in downtown Vienna. The authors did a very good job of positioning two women in powerful positions. Victoria seems almost modeled after Ziva on NCIS (for fans who follow this action packed show on CBS).

This is normally not my style of book, but I read it because I met one of the authors (Karetta Hubbard) who is local here in DC/VA. She and her friend wrote this book and couldn't find anyone to publish it, so they started their own publishing company - Fuze.

An interesting story that started out well, but jerky writing and a predictable ending took the steam out of it for me. In some cases the writing is engaging, but then it is spoiled by stilted, unnatural dialog, and worn-out cliches. Though I tried to finish it, I ended up skipping the last fifty pages.
What I learned from this book: even a spy thriller loses its luster when the characters come off as paper cutout cliches.
