5 stars – Romantic Suspense

Gerard’s Black Ops series is one of the very best in military romantic suspense, and Risk No Secrets is a gripping, top-notch, action-packed thrill ride that delivers an adrenaline rush and emotional punch that stays with you for a while after reading it.

Wyatt “Papa Bear” Savage is weary from a violent career as an operative in the CIA and current Black Ops, Inc. and has begun questioning what he wants out of life and his future, when he gets a call from a friend from

Basic plot:

Twelve long years ago, Wyatt Savage and his best friend, Hugh Weber, met Sophie Baylor who was their Spanish Language instructor as they were learning the language in preparation for their Special Ops work in South America. Both men were instantly attracted to her, and she to them, and they pursued her relentlessly, each on his own. She found herself in love with both of them, but when Hugh, the handsome, outgoing one of the two proposed, she accepted and hoped she’d made the right ch

A lot of wasted potential in the romance part with this one. Wyatt "Papa Bear" Savage was such a sweet Georgia country boy hero (calling women "sugar" and "darlin"--usually I don't go for that but for him it worked) that I wanted to know more about him personally and wanted more scenes with him and the heroine (Sophie) that I felt a little shortchanged. The plot was just okay for me. Sophie was a woman who Wyatt loved (in his heart) and lost 12 years ago to his best buddy and fellow CIA agent Hu ...more

Yet another winner by Ms Gerard.

When asked I have always said that I love all these super sexy men but Gabe would always be my favourite. Wyatt didn't quite knock Gabe off that number one spot but he came very very close to it!

Although Wyatt was a warrior he was also a sweet guy. Sophie was a strong woman who was desperately trying to get back a young girl that had been kidnapped - the kidnappers had made a mistake in grabbing the wrong girl, they were actually after her daughter. She had no lu
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!!! Loved it! Gerard's characters jump off the page and into your heart. Each warrior is so special that you can't wait until the next book comes out. Talk about a nail biter! From start to finish you were on the edge of your seat. Cindy Gerard really knows how to write a great Romantic Suspense.

Another Great Big 5 Shiny Star Winner!!!!!

Wyatt "Papa Bear" Savage is the story this time. Southern boy, sweet, loyal and handsome. Twelve years ago Wyatt and his buddy Hugh take a spanish class and Sophie is the teacher. While Sophie is attracted to them both, Hugh's star shines a little bit brighter and she chooses Hugh over Wyatt. Wyatt loved her, but accepts her decision and walks away.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading the fifth edition to the Black Ops Saga. Previous characters and updates were mentioned, and there were two romances going on. The primary story involved Wyatt "Pappa Bear" Savage (former CIA turned Black Ops) and Sophie Baylor (the love of his life). In the beginning, there were a few flashbacks as to how Wyatt and Sophie met. They had a connection, but when Wyatt's best friend, Hugh Weber (CIA), asked Sophie to marry him, Wyatt backed away. If only....

I have read 10 or so Cindy Gerard books in the last 6 months and I feel like I continuously write the same damn thing in each review.

There is a usual outline of how hunky the hero is - how strong the heroine is - how perfect they are together, throw in a few *sigh*'s and then wrap it all up in a little bow of "This book rocked!"

......this book is exactly the same.

I LOVED IT. Seriously, how many ways can I say that before it gets annoying?? I honestly can't help it, the books just rock from sta

Can I say that I loved the secondary story and everything that was happening in Argentina more than the primary romance and what was happening in El Salvador?

I don't like love triangles (or love triangles-ish) stories so this one is clearly not one of my favorite. Another thing that spoiled the story for me is that the outcome wasn't a surprise. If not for the side story this book would only get 3 stars from me.

As a huge fan of Romantic Suspense and having read more than I can even remember, I've come to a conclusion... NO ONE does it better than Cindy Gerard! Many may do it well, a few may do it as good but none - no none - can write it better. Whatever topic she attempts- in this case the gangs of San Salvadore - she writes with intelligence, she doesn't bog the reader down with info overload but deftly describes situations with just enough honesty to allow one to understand the horror without totall ...more
I just have to say, Reed is the best!! Every scene he was in, he brought a smile to my face.

“What happened?" Wyatt asked Crystal, and stood back so the two of them could come inside out of the oppressive heat.

"Why are you asking her?" Reed thumped past him. "I'm the one on crutches."

"She'll tell me the truth," Wyatt said. "You'll just give me some bullshit story that will end with 'You should see the other guy'."

Average romantic suspense. Nothing unique. Special forces friend is asked to help when a girl is kidnapped.

Twelve years ago Wyatt and Hugh worked for the CIA and took an adult Spanish class taught by Sophie. They both fell in love with her and she them. But Hugh was the one she married. Now Sophie lives in El Salvador running a middle school. One of her students was kidnapped. Hugh is out of the area. She calls Wyatt for help. Wyatt no longer works for the CIA, but he works for Black

Fifth in the Black Ops, Inc. romantic suspense series revolving around Nathan Black and his BOIs. The couple focus is on Wyatt Savage and Sophie Baylor with a minor focus on Nate and Juliana's relationship.

My Take
Gerard manages to create such different scenarios to introduce her romances. Each of the BOIs has a different background, a different history. Their one commonality is the loyalty and support each man receives from the others. They go all out to protect. Brutal men when needed, gentle a
That used to be my least favorite of Cindy Gerard; it remains my least favorite full story written by her.

I did not care so much for all the reminder of a previous time, when Sophie had been courted by two men and had chosen one, that was not the right one.

The hero is often described as a cuddly papa bear, which means that he had the same attraction potential to me, as say Winnie the pooh. I could not go over that and never managed to really take him for a real flesh and blood man.

Sophie did not

Loved Wyatt "papa bear" Savage! The action and suspense, as usual, was great! The romance, heartbreaking and sweet...sad that they lost all those years because Wyatt decided to be a stand-up guy! :(...but that's why everyone loves him so much!

My only gripe...and it actually has nothing to do with Wyatt's and Sophie's actual story...was the side story of Nate and Julianna. I really wish they would have gotten their own book! I kind of feel like they were cheated a little bit since we only got bit

I love this series. But this one wasn't as good as the others. But I did love Wyatt and Sophie. For some reason I didn't connect with this one as much as I did with the other. But it was still really good. Gabe is still my favorite ...Sorry Wyatt.
I just didn't buy the romance. The length of time apart and having no contact and her evidently not even having a thought for Wyatt until she needs him to help her. Didn't work for me.
Fabulous Gripping Twisty Turny story with just the right amount of romance as always.

Let me start by saying that I've loved every Cindy Gerard novel i've read so far. The bodyguards series were each a barrel of badass and sexy fun. And the Black Ops have been exceptional. In my opinion, she's one of the best at the whole romance adventure. She writes scenes that travel into the dirtiest and roughest parts of the world and she does it with flair. You believe every part of it, finding yourself in the midst of some seriously corrupt politics, but you love whatever hero you're there ...more

Seeing as how I have (for the most part) really enjoyed this series to date, this book was a bit of a let down for me. Wyatt has always been that character I couldn't wait to see fall in love, but I felt like Gerard could have done better than Sophie.

12 years ago, Wyatt stepped aside and watched his best friend (Hugh) marry the woman he has fallen in love with (Sophie). Why? Why did he not fight for her if he loved her so much? I really can't see any man being so altruistic that he'd not only s

Book #5 in the Black Ops, Inc. series was good but not great for me. Not every book can be a 5 star read, right? I think I'll take a little break before I hit #6 and #7. While I love the authenticity and action of this romantic suspense series, the characterization has become slightly stale, particularly when the romantic leads repeatedly gush over each other in their minds. I get that each BOI warrior has integrity and courage, and each woman he's paired with is beautiful and strong. I think I' ...more

(April) I was disappointed in this book. I think CG writes great heros - I've never been disappointed in any of her manly-men. It's her heroines that are really starting to bug me (I still think the worst was Darcy from To The Brink - OMG did I hate her!). Sophie, to me, was a user. Did she really love Hugh? Did she really love Wyatt? I don't think much of her having a very special date w/Wyatt and deciding to marry Hugh just days later. I never understand heroines who don't want to give the bad ...more
The heroine in this one bugged me, I'll be honest. I can't quite put my finger on why she annoyed me, but she just didn't come across as deserving one of the BOIs hotties like the other heroines in the series did. She's a do-gooder and just too saintly for my tastes. The other heroines in this series have been so much less frickin' perfect. Savage is just as fabulous as he appears in the previous books, and that consistency is one of the things I love about this series. Cindy Gerard just nails i ...more

There is not a thing I don't love about Cindy Gerard's BOI's (or her Bodyguards for that matter) and Wyatt "Papa Bear" Savage has always been one of my favorites (right behind 'The Archangel')!! I have always been a sucker for a sexy southern drawl! All I'm going to say is if you haven't read the Black Ops series you really need to start NOW! These guys are amazing!

The only thing Cindy had in mind when she started writing her first book was finishing it. The issue of actually selling it came much later. Only after she made that life-altering first sale did she realize that one book would never be enough. Now, over 20 books and numerous awards later, Cindy laughingly admits that she can barely remember life before...well, was there life before writing?
