I'm one of the few people I know who doesn't like Ibsen's naturalist plays - despite the fact that naturalism is what made his work so important in the history of Western theatre and culture. I just find them boring.

However, I love his early work, before he discovered naturalism, back when his goal was to create a theatre of Norway based on its folklore and myth. This period produced his delightful and challenging verse plays, Peer Gynt and Brand.
