This is the second book in the Kauffman Amish Bakery series and the book that made me realise that Clipston is definitely my favourite author of Amish fiction. Beverly Lewis may well have earned a name for herself but I’ve fallen in love with the Kauffman novels. Clipston portrays the Amish as normal people who have the same problems as us “Englishers” and have to rely on God to help them through these struggles. I particularly like the fact that Clipston mentions specific Bible verses through h...more

This was just a great book.

It was very hard to put down, as I wanted to see how things ended with Sarah Rose.

It is amazing no matter what happens you will find your family and friends there to support you.
Amy Clipston done an excellent job with this book and I can't wait to start book 3.

This is the story of Sarah after she loses her husband Peter when a fire destroys the cabinet shop where he worked with family members. She finds out after his death many things about him that she had not known and is very upset but when she finds out she is expecting twins this is a mixed blessing, knowing they are a gift from God but also they will not ever know their father. I am liking this book #2 very much.....

In A Promise of Hope, the second book in the Kauffman Amish Bakery series by Amy Clipston, an Amish widow with newborn twins discovers her deceased husband had disturbing secrets. As she tries to come to grips with the past, she considers a loveless marriage to ensure stability for her young family … with her faith in God hanging in the balance.

My Review - I absolutely loved this book. Timmy got on my nerves a little bit but I loved the story between Sarah Rose, Peter and Luke. I loved the twins...more

I love the recipes in these books...and they come up like little surprises, for the particular dish isn't always mentioned first, if at all. This story picks up with the youngest of the Kauffman clan, Sarah and I've to say, even without seeing a picture, I can tell Luke is such a dreamboat. Although, I found myself practically cheering out loud for another character in the book -- Eli; particularly when he set Timothy straight about butting into another's business. It was also good to have a cam...more

The 2nd book in the series was better written than the first was, as I anticipated. This book was about Rebecca's sister in law, Sarah. Rebecca was the main character in the first book. I like the series that takes...more

The family owned furniture store where her husband works caught fire and her husband was killed. She recently found out she was pregnant with twins as well as a unknown family member of her husband Peter came to town. Sarah Rose has a really hard time putting together the pieces and accepting her husbands past. I really enjoyed reading this book and reading about how much faith Sarah a...more

If you're looking for another Amish series then this is it! Amy Clipston has a wonderful in the story of "A Promise of Hope", published by Zondervan. Since this was book two in the Kauffman Amish Bakery Series I wasn't sure if I'd be able to follow this book without having read the first but thankfully it was easy. There is some background information that happened in the first book, which gave me a good understanding of what had happened prior to me starting this book.

I read this book in two da...more

This is volume two in the Amish Bakery series providing the Amish viewpoint in an easy to read romance/Christian fiction book. Sarah Rose is a young, pregnant widow struggling to move on with her life after her husband dies in a fire at the furniture shop. An interesting facet is the sprinkling of Amish phrases throughout the conversations though that tends to be distracting.

This has been a wonderful series. As I often say about reading Christian fiction, it's quite uplifting. I've recently made a choice to live more plain and I'm sure part of it has been due to books like this. I love the simple things in life and anything I can do to simplify my life is welcome. I've always been this way and am now fully able to practice it.

3 stars.

Well done if a bit predicatable at times. But I really believe in Sarah and Luke's connection and the twists and turns throughout the book was well done as well -only guessed like two of them. Not sure if I will read the others in this series, but this wasn't bad for a lazy afternoon read.

This is the Kauffman Amish Bakery series. It continues the story of the Kaufmann children and is as good as A Gift of Grace if not better. The characters become very real as you read the stories.

This is second book in the Kauffman Amish Bakery novels. In this story, the main character is Sarah, a first time expectant mother who is grieving over the loss of her husband Peter in a fire. Sarah moves back in with her parents, who do their best to support her, but she is overwhelmed with grief. While working in the family bakery, she meets a man, Luke, who claims to be one of Peter's relatives. Sarah learns many things about her husband's past she never knew, some of them quite troubling, an...more

This was a different kind of read for me. Very inspirational and a bit of a fantasy story of a different kind -- I did haave the feeling that it is a bit Pollyanaish throughout.

Another book about forgiveness and family... There is less about the bakery and the furniture store but lots of family.....

Probably more of a 3.5 I liked this second book in this series, too. The central characters were a bit frustrating at times in not being forward and honest with their feelings. I could see how the story would end (typical Amish in that sense) however the twists during it made it interesting. The epilogue has me looking forward to reading the next book :)
Kathryn
another great story by this up and coming author. I look forward to her next Kauffman Amish Bakery Series, or anything else she writes.
