*sigh* I found out Eve’s answer. How awesome for them both. I’m glad Robb skipped ahead in time again and took us closer to the big day. I loved watching Eve and Roarke’s nerves. Of course, neither of them was worried for the same reasons. Eve worried about making it work long term and Roarke worried about Eve going through with it. LOL.

Another winner for me, mostly because of the relationships and interaction between characters. I was lovely to see more of Mavis, get to know Peabody...And see yet another step in the Eve/Roarke relationship evolution.
Well-written, nicely paced, good mystery plot (I wonder how many motives can an author invent to carry on a series)—loved the drug angle and description...

Another winner from the In Death Series, I'm going to be sad when I finish these. In this one Eve Dallas, NYPSD officer in the year 2058, takes officer Peabody- a young officer we meet in the last book-under her wing, tries to clear her best friend of murder while balancing the fact that her repressed childhood memories are coming back to her and oh yeah, she's getting married.
I really like Officer Peabody. And I'm not really a fan of Mavis. I think the mystery was good. Again I f...more

If the rest of the In Death books are like these first three, then I'm going to be in romantic suspense heaven for a long while. Unlike most of my Goodreads friends, I read rather slowly (only have a couple of hours a day) and I have the entire In Death series to get through.
Bliss.
I'm finding that I'm as engrossed in the murder mystery as I am in Eve and Roarke's romance. Though Immortal (Book 3)focuses more on Eve's current case, Roarke makes his presence felt. I was co...more

4 Stars...I really liked it
"Immortal" wasn't quite the 5 Star the previous 2 books were, but it was dang close. Mrs. Roberts is truly a master storyteller and she rarely lets me down. Immortal (unlike the others) did lack the "must turn the page now, can't do anything else" feeling for me, but it was a great fast paced read, and at the end of the story this fine author (and in the words of my 4 year old son) really throws you for a loopty loop...

So Lt. Eve Dallas is getting married. But that is just a back ground story. Dallas is a Lieutenant in the New York Police Department in the year 2058. Dallas works homicide. Which is where the book opens, she is called to a scene of one of her informants. She request an “attachment” from Peabody, another female officer she has worked with before in the past. Someone Dallas considers a younger version of herself. When investigating this murder, she and Peabody discover Boomer, her now dead inform...more
It is 2058, New York City. Lieutenant Eve Dallas uncovers a world where technology can create beauty and youth, but passion and greed can destroy them. She was one of the most sought-after women in the world. A top model who would stop at nothing to get what she wanted -even another woman's man. And now she's dead, the victim of a brutal murder. Police lieutenant Eve Dallas puts her life on the line to take the case when suspicion falls on her best friend, the other woman in the fatal love trian...more
I gotta say, after three books of this series, I have kind of developed a love/hate relationship with Ms. Roberts as an author. I absolutely admire the writing style she uses. Zero purple prose, but not without details when apporiate to help create a interesting picture. Put simply, she gets the hell out the way to let the characters and their actions do most the talking. Really, alot of writer's could learn from reading this series on that basis. To borrow an old adage, "Just tell the damn...more
Awesome read! I'm loving this series more and more with each book. Eve's past really tore me up in this book, but it was handled very well. I want to learn more about Roarke's past, though. The little snippet we got was just not enough.
I said in my last review that I would never love Eve, but I may have to retract. She is really growing on me. I feel like her personal growth is a big part of these books and really makes you feel more connected to her. Her reactions to Mavis'...more

This series is rather fun, with a gorgeous heroine, tons of flamboyant characters, plenty of action, some emotional angst and delight, a slightly futuristic time-slot (which gives room for a bit of fun with what would otherwise be fantastical exaggeration), and mouthy dialogue. Great for a read that requires no exercising of the brain.
This one is third in the series but the fourth that I've read. I managed to read the 23rd one first, and then decided it would be fun to read them fr...more

Another great story. We get to see exactly what Eve Dallas will do when someone she loves is in trouble. How can Summerset accuse her of being disloyal? She's one of the most fiercely loyal people you could meet. And although she may only have a very select number friends, those people have her loyalty and she will protect them with all she's worth.
Speaking of Summerset; I said I would find out what was going on with him, I knew he wasn't just the hired help, and we do find out...more

Re-reading this series is great fun. This book is am important one because Eve remembers what happened to her in her past. What I love about that is that she doesn't let it define her, what defines her is what she does now and her actions now. Roarke brings up a great point to her when she mentions that she doesn't have any family. He points out Mavis and others that are in her life and says there is her family, they just don't have a blood tie, she has picked them for herself. One of my fa...more
Yet another great installment in the In Death series by J.D. Robb, Immortal in Death is the third book featuring Lieutenant Eve Dallas, Roarke, and the members of the NYPSD. While all the books in this series focus on murder, there was a twist to this one, bringing it close to home when Eve's best friend Mavis is implicated as the murderer. I thought that this was a pleasant change because, really, it would have been really obnoxious if Roarke was one of the suspects again. There are only so man...more
This series is wonderful. The books are well written and interesting. The only thing that I could say is bad about them is the fact that they are one of those series that the author writes a million books for so other than being ok reads none of them really stand out as an amazing book. One other thing I noticed with the In Death series was the fact that they seem to always end the same, at least the first three in the series have. I do like that you find out more about Eve's past and she finall...more

I don't know that I'd listen to another one of this addictive series - I found the female narrator's "sexy" faux-Irish Roarke voice a bit cringeworthy, and this particular novel involves both the usual hot & heavy sex scene and Eve's graphic remembrances of her childhood abuse, neither of which I particularly enjoyed having read to me. I think it's the inability to skim over things - instead I have to hear every detail of Roarke's magnificent technique.

With each book, this series gets better. The author giving you tidbits of Eve and Roarke with each new book . The stories are unique, amusing and makes you keep turning the pages until the end. The characters come alive on the page with their background history and how they interact with each other.
Okay, so I figured out the bad guy early on, but Eve can whoop ass, especially when she is defending her friends. Eve and Peabody's interactions are amusing. Eve saying: Peabody, I've seen you...more

The third in the series, and we are anticipating the wedding of Roarke & Dallas throughout the book. But first Dallas has to save Mavis from a murder set-up.
This story is all to do with illegal drugs and how models & actors want to look young forever and think that there won't be any consequences.
Peabody gets her chance to assist Dallas in various police duties and gets assigned permanently to homicide. Dr Mira gets Dallas to open up more about her past, so much so that Dalla...more

Book #31 of 2010
Really? 30 books already? And since I didn't read at all in January...
I have a feeling all of my reviews for the "In Death" series are going to sound alike - I like them. I like Roarke. I like how Roarke takes care of Eve. I like how Eve takes no sh*t from anyone.
This lost a star mainly because I pegged the bad guy the moment he stepped into the story. Not because he was particularly bad guy-esqe at that point, but mainly beca...more

This is the 3rd book in the Eve Dallas/Roarke series. i had both #2 and 3 at home, and the books are kind of small, so i started number three within minutes of finishing 2, just as if they were one larger book. On the backstory, this book was really emotional, with a lot of breakthroughs. The backstory got moved along way more than it did in 2. The crime story was about illegal drugs and murder, and was quite interesting and realistic, seeing how all of these people, both beautiful people, and...more
Book Review: 3 Treasure Boxes
This is a standalone book, and I am sure that if you read it you would be quickly reading the first two books in the series. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about strong female lead characters and enjoys a suspense story. But if you are looking to solve a mystery along with Eve then you will be disappointed since you cannot solve this book on your own. J. D. Robb keeps too much information out which makes this is impossible, but the ...more

"Di lì a poche settimane non sarebbe più stata soltanto Eve Dallas, tenente della Squadra Omicidi; sarebbe stata la moglie di Roarke. Come avrebbe fatto a conciliare le due cose era per lei un profondo mistero, la cui soluzione le sembrava più intricata di quella di qualsiasi caso su cui avesse mai dovuto indagare."

This is one of my favorite In Death books. I think because this is the first time we really see Eve open up. She shows a lot of emotional growth here, plus she opens the door to new friendships.
It was easy to figure out who the killer was, but I still enjoyed the basic plot and watching Eve and her team work it out. I was disappointed in the timeline of the investigation though. It seems strange that both Eve and Roarke would be working right up until the night of the wedding.

I read this one years ago (I think it was the first of the series I ever read) So now that I am trying to read all 30 of them in a month I had to rent this on audio book (my first ever) I have to say that I hate listening to these books read all by a woman using different accents for all of the characters is horrible. My sexy vision of Roarke has been ruined, in my mind he now sounds like a Grandma from Newfoundland. I am weeping a bit inside. Yesterday he was my Irish dream man with black hair ...more

Eve Dallas, one hundred percent cop, is getting married. Roarke, the Irish billionaire with the face of an angel, is the groom. Seeing the wedding actually take place surrounded by murder and intrigue is truly delightful.
Seeing the introduction of Leonardo and Trina and the build up of Peadody and Mavis is great. Watching how Eve and Roarke come to terms with the feelings they have for each other is sweet. Watching how well they work as a team is even better.

“Roarke: "Darling, before we shift into the official mode, what do you have on under that dress?"
Eve: "A device designed to drive men wild."
Roarke: "It's working. I don't believe I've ever seen your butt move quite that way."
Eve: "It's a cop's butt now, ace, so watch it."
Roarke: "I am." He smiled, gave it a nice solid smack. "Believe me.”
