A very strong debut short story collection. In her Afterword, Biancotti talks about how she arrived at the title of this collection and notes previous criticisms regarding her story endings as being either "too understated or confusing for audiences to feel comfortable with". I can see why these criticisms have been levelled at some of her stories - Biancotti has a strong tendency towards ambiguity and unexpected twists. This is a great collection. Each story brings you into a new world, and you never know quite what's going to happen next. Definitely a recommended read.
