This review forms part of my contribution to the Australian Women Writers 2012 Reading Challenge.
A Book of Endings is a short story collection by Deborah Biancotti. I first came across Ms Biancotti's work when I read Bad Power earlier in the year, which I liked very much. As a result I've been eager to get my hands on A Book of Endings.

A very strong debut short story collection. In her Afterword, Biancotti talks about how she arrived at the title of this collection and notes previous criticisms regarding her story endings as being either "too understated or confusing for audiences to feel comfortable with". I can see why these criticisms have been levelled at some of her stories - Biancotti has a strong tendency towards ambiguity and unexpected twists.
