Cat and Bones have had a very rough time of it lately and while they have come out on top in the last few battles, there still were loved ones lost and irreparable consequences. In this latest installment, Cat is still coming to terms with her new, mostly pulse-less status. She was unique as a half vampire, so it makes sense she wouldn't be a normal full one either. However, this spells trouble as a nasty Ghoul is using the threat of the "Red Reaper" to incite a war between the Vampire More...

Pardon me while I have a little rant. If you’re going to do a spin-off series, then it should be able to be read independently of the original series. Otherwise, it’s not really a spin-off series now, is it? It’s just all part of the one same series. You should NOT be able to spoil either series by not reading the spin-off series in between books of the original series, and vice versa.

Although Frost’s Night Huntress World series is supposed to be a spin-off, it really isn’t. It doesn More...

I was so excited to get this book, and start reading it as soon as it came out! I've been on Cat & Bones withdrawals because the 4th book in the series was a bit mehh, and then we got 2 books in the Night Huntress World spin-off, and I was not so happy with Spade's, and I did liked Mencheres.

But here we are back with Cat & Bones.... Ahhhh... Opening scene... LOVED IT! I wouldn't mind having him shackled to a cave wall! After that though it started going really More...

I give credit to the Night Huntress series and my GR friends who told me about the greatness of this series from the Bones Train in getting me back into the PNR genre again. Revisiting Cat and Bones is always a fun experience, this time around though I wasn’t engaged like I was in the earlier novels.

Not that I didn’t enjoy this installment of the Night Huntress series, but found it more of a short story/filler in the overall of the series. Much of what happen in this novel was More...

I honestly feel like I have been waiting years and years and years for the fifth Cat and Bones book to come out. I mean they are one of the most talked about couples in the Urban Fantasy Genre, but This Side of the Grave was not as exciting as I thought it would be.

There are quite a few mixed reviews out there for this book. I have been waiting forever to see what will happen next for Cat and Bones only to find the book not as entertaining as the other ones, don't get me wrong it wa More...

Ok, so this is going to be short and sweet since this is a later-in-the-series book.

I LOVED IT! Now, onto the inside flap cover...

I do have a question, inside flap, isn't Bones missing a nipple? I was looking (ok I was looking really hard) at the picture of Bones and realized his nipple (I think it was his left nipple since I don't have the book in front of me) or at least a portion of his nipple should be showing just on the edge of his leather vest. Ok, I didn't take ca More...

Have Cat and Bones finally met their match? Does someone exist in their supernatural world capable of kicking their butts? You’ll find the answers to those questions between the covers of the latest Cat and Bones offering, This Side of the Grave.

A war is brewing between the ghouls and vampires. Without giving any spoilers, suffice it to say there are unfortunate and unpleasant surprises and sadness in store for Cat and she’s totally unprepared for them.
True to form, More...

Oh Vlad, you make me laugh.

Altogether a wonderful addition to the Night Huntress series! In this latest installment Cat has pretty much become used to her new dead self, even though she is still ....quite unusual. And with these unusual abilities of hers we find them on the verge of destroying a long-standing truce between the vampires and the ghouls. Vampires are disappearing and the master-less are becoming More...

I am so not going to be popular after this review. Just thinking about writing it gave me insomnia last night. I had visions of an enraged horde of Frost fans wielding pitchforks and torches while chasing me through a darkened landscape. But I gotta be honest with my feelings. Question is… do you want the good news first or the bad news? Either way, I have a feeling I’m going to be donning More...

This book makes me (1) laugh (2) swoon (because Bones is just so sexy and hot and amazing, I want my own version of Bones) (3) cried (4) begging for more. And long time ago, I decide that a book can make me at least two of those emotion, it deserves 5-stars. Safely to say that this is my favorite book yet of the Cat/Bones series.

One of the sucess keys for this book, personally for me, is that Cat and Bones finally settled down in their marriage life. No hidden husband waiting like in More...

The intoduction to this book was so good! I was hooked on the first page and then...it just kinda fell a little flat.
Maybe it was just that my expectations were way way high, but I never felt like I was on the edge of my seat like with the previous books. After a couple chapters it starts to pick up but, like I said, I didn't feel the adrenalin rushing like with the other books. The usual spark uniting Bones and Cat was missing and I was dissappointed to see just a few scenes where I trull More...

It's been a long wait for a new Cat & Bones book. And though I was glad to be back with two of my favorite characters, it didn't quite enthrall me as much as the previous installments. Don't get me wrong, the Night Huntress series on a bad day, is still leaps and bounds ahead of most books on their best days. Some of the dialogue was laugh-out-loud funny. I love our characters and the great world Jeaniene Frost has built around them. But noticeably absent in this installment is any tension betwe More...

1st line in the book---> The vampire pulled on the chains restraining him to the cave wall.

REVIEW:
I love the Night Huntress series, but after the last book, I was a little worried that Bones and Cat's relationships was going to continue to be filled with angst and falling apart. I was so relieved to see that in this Book, they were finally happy with on another!!! There are sweet moments between the couple, I just happy they aren't fighting all the time.

"Timmy gave Bones a speculative glance. "Before we go I gotta know: If mind-reading abilities are real, there's something else I wondered if fiction got right about vampires-"

"Ask me if I sparkle and I will kill you where you stand." Bones cut him off with the utmost seriousness."

This was just hilarious.

Review-
Frost fans with be delighted with this newest installment of the Night Huntress series. This Side of the Grave showcases everything there is to love about the series. There is action, humor, excitement and sadness. Cat and Bones have some very steamy moments together as well as some incredibly tender ones. Jeaniene Frost is an expert at crafting a story that will capture your attention and hold you enthralled throughout. The world she creates is vast and detailed. The chara More...

Cat and Bones are back!
"This Side of the Grave" is the fifth novel in the Night Huntress series by the amazing Jeaniene Frost. The Night Huntress series is a mix between Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance, with a exciting, original twist.
Cat was born half vampire/half human, but things have changed through the series to make her even more unique. The Cat and Bones duo has really spread as a favorite for many and with right reason too. Life's much easier after your Cat an More...

Instead of doing my usual review I am just gonna say Jeaniene Frost does it again. Captivating.. funny as all hell esp. from Vlad, sexy Chapter 21..Oh for the love of Bones and candle wax(paging V from BDB lol), and I even shed a tear. I will also say that I didn't expect what happened at the very very end... and I am so glad it did. I really enjoyed Vlad like I said before and Mencheres. I think he is so cute with Kira and I think she made him into an even better man. I also like all the sexua More...

Wow! What a ride! I loved this book as much as the previous ones in this series! You cannot read Jeanine's books without some panty warming moments and the action/plot in her books is thrilling. You will not be disappointed with this fifth installment in her Night Huntress Series. I am waiting with bated breath for Ms. Frost's next book, One Grave at a Time. I am absolutely a die-hard fan!

Happy Reading! More...

I don't know what it was about this installment, but it just didn't hold my interest and subsequently took weeks to get through. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it but the story felt like it was trying too hard with the sexual aspects this time around. Maybe I will enjoy the next book more, or possibly the series is on a downward slope for me. We shall see.

***SPOILERS*** Cat & Bones are back at it again. I liked this book a lot. It showed Cat & Bones together and that they have grown a lot. Cat has grown as a person and as a couple.

This time around ghouls are the enemy. The plot was good, but the ending fight anticlimactic. We got to see friends again: Denise, Spade, Vlad.... even Cat's old neighbor, Timmie!! By the way, how much do I love Vlad? He doesn't want to admit to it but he is quite loyal to his friendship with Cat. More...
