look! a board book for grown-ups!! or very disturbed and precocious children. the design of this book is just beautiful - the caption borders (im sure there is a more artistic term), the bricklike heft of the damn thing... i saw this at the brooklyn book fair and even though i knew we would be getting it into the store in october or so, i HAD TO HAVE IT RIGHT THEN AND THERE. because thats the way it is with me sometimes. i can be very grabby. but im glad i have it here now, a satisfying weight i ...more

Loved this. Each page has a letter and a noir-ish, suggestive word framed in an old silent movie title card ("L is for Lascivious", "M is for Menacing"), and opposite is a photo aptly illustrating the word, many of them profoundly creepy and strange, all beautifully shot.
