Beautiful reproductions of notable Zen artworks (painting & calligraphy). Each piece gets a full page, and on the facing page there are 2 commentaries -- one "art commentary" by Stephen Addiss, who is an artist as well as Zen art scholar; and a "Zen commentary" by John Daido Loori, who was the founder and abbot at Zen Mountain Monastery in New York. Great, well-rounded insight into each piece.
