I think I had read a few Sherlock Holmes stories in the past, but I didn't remember them well. The stories in this book are arranged chronologically in the order they happened, as opposed to the order in which they were written. I liked reading them and by the end I was starting to solve the mysteries or at least realize which parts were important. I think some of the solutions fall into "Encyclopedia Browned" trope territory but not all of them. I'm definitely going to try and get more Sherlock ...more

I read only a study in scarlet. It would be an entertaining way to reach high schoolers the scientific method. No was quite impressed by the last chapter's use of logic (even if some logic was a stretch).

I am so surprised I never got into the Sherlock Holmes series until now! I love mystery novels, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is just brilliant. And these aren't even his greatest works! I definitely need to go on the hunt for volume 2!

This is Holmes in his best mental fury of unraveling convoluted mysteries wrapped in enigmas, as Churchill would put it. Not for everyone, though. Great edition, well edited and nicely illustrated. The hardback is a great collectable pleasure to behold.

the whkole consept is really confusing. you would either think that sir author conan doyel would be telling the story or sherlock holmes. it is somewhat disapointing.

So much fun! Having watched "Sherlock" with Mr. Cumberbatch and "Elementary", it was great to finally read the source, and see how Conan Doyle described his quirky, brilliant sleuth.
