This stands out as one of the worst books I have ever read. Just a taste of the cheesiness within:
"Connor vs. Jeffrey. They were both so much fun. They made her laugh, made her feel special. And there was certainly no denying that they were wonderful in bed -- or wherever else they chose to have sex. They were tall, in wonderful shape, handsome as film stars. No, actually, they were more handsome than the film stars she knew. The fact was, Nora loved being with Connor and Jeffrey equally. Which...more

just WOW!!!

I picked this book up in the resort library because I had forgotten to pack a quality book. Yes, I finished it, but that was because I didn't have a lot more options. A quick, easy read, it left nothing to talk about. If you like sex scenes, there are some. But it was lacking in mystery, suspense...well, really anything.
The upside: This book will make me remember to pack a book next time!

I just finished reading James Patterson’s collaboration with Howard Roughan, Honeymoon. It is called the “2005 International Thriller of the Year” but sadly, thrilled I am not. I am deliberating whether it’s because of my high expectations from James Patterson or the book just really is dull. Frankly, I have no idea how it came to be a thriller.

Even though the story is still quite entertaining, the characters are very cheesy and credulous. How can Nora Sinclair pull it off with her marriage with one man and continue her affair of the other man, or how can she so easily transfer the money of her fiancé’s account to hers’ in Cayman Island. In the real world, transferring that sum of money of 1.9 billion to a different account registration can never be done online by a few clicks without attaining more authentication by phone or paper doc...more
Good JP thriller - fine plot, but sub-plots need more pages!
"Honeymoon" is so typical James Patterson -- an entertaining and clever story, doled out in short, fast-paced chapters that keep the action going at break-neck speed, and enough sub-plots and twists to build suspense. And while the main characters, especially the villainous Nora Sinclair and the resourceful FBI agent John O'Hara (aka "insurance guy" Craig Reynolds) are pretty well developed and interesting, there are two sub-plots that...more

Another James Patterson book that's quite enthralling and can't put down as easily.
Nora Sinclair a successful interior decorator, spends her time between New York and Boston. But why? Because she is engaged to one of her clients in New York and married to one of her previous clients, a book author, in Boston. She has plenty of money that she trasfers to a Cayman Islan account, and a mother in a psychiatric ward, that no one knows about. As her current fiance dies unexpectedly while Nora is serv...more

The review across the top of the front cover reads "WHAT A HONEY OF A STORY IT IS!...HONEYMOON IS SEXY AND SCARY."
It really was neither of those things.
In all actuality, it was a predictable "black widow" story with a few PG-13 references to sex or having it. I saw the end coming 200 pages before it happened, and the few twists thrown in were kind of minute details that wouldn't have really been missed had they been left out.

Like any James Patterson book, it was fast-paced and read quickly. However, like many of his books, Honeymoon was filled with half-baked plot twists, plot developments that were unnecessarily made into twists, and just odd narrative decisions throughout.
If the book had been straightforward, then I might would've enjoyed it better. Instead, Patterson treats every single event in the book as a soap opera style twist before the commercial. I was only waiting for the musical stings at the end of ea...more

3.5 stars. This is my second James Paterson book. My first book that I read from him was Lifeguard, and in my opinion this book is a lot better (or at the least more entertaining). James Patterson has admitted, "I am not a great prose stylist, I am a storyteller". So I'll agree, he's not the best writer but I do think he is being a little bit modest. I enjoy his way of writing chapters in that EVERY chapter leaves a sentence that entices you to read more. The chapters are so short you'll tell yo...more
This was my first Patterson but I wrote my review of the The Quickie first so that's where all my Patterson comments are. I picked this book because it was the 2005 International Thriller of the Year and also a best seller for Patterson. I liked The Quickie better. Again, really hard to explain but I just don't like any of his characters, even the good guys. The story is great. Totally got the thriller part of this but to me it's just not rounded out or something. I can't quite put my finger on...more
This was definitely something different for me -- I don't generally read the thriller/crime/suspense genre. But, a friend lent me this one and swore I'd like it, so I decided that it was at least worth a shot, right?
I do like that the story is told in a bazillion shorter chapters, which helps keep my attention a little better in this type of story. It was easy to pick this up in short spurts throughout the week without getting lost.

Well, one good thing about this book: it was a fast read. If it hadn't been I would probably have stopped reading altogether. The characters were one-dimensional, which was okay. I wasn't expecting anything detailed from a beach-read. But they were actually boring. I hate reading about stupid people doing stupid things. And not one of these characters did anything smart. Do rich men really not investigate the women they're about to marry? I thought pre-nups were pretty standard nowadays. Do FBI...more

The tagline on this Patterson book reads "Don't give away the ending...don't give away the beginning!" Well at first reading this, i was thinking "Ok I can understand not giving away the ending but the start?" Now after finishing this terrificly suspenseful novel i can understand why..and no i am going to stick to James Patterson's words cause quite frankly he speaks the truth here it would ruin it for you! I am a great fan of James Patterson. Having said that, I can say that this "International Thriller of the Year" did not thrill me. It has Patterson's short chapters and nonstop action, but its resemblance to his earlier books stops there. It has a painfully-predictable plot, an unbelievable protagonist, and an ending that deteriorates into political babble.

I listened to this book on CD. Sometimes the narrator's voice makes a book very enjoyable, even if the story was just eh, but these two narrators did nothing for the story, especially the male "lead". He is a good actor, but strangely, was very dry and monotone while portraying all the male voices in this story. It was quite confusing. Also, I have had enough James Patterson for a while. Although the story was different than many crime novels, in that the reader knows who the killer is from almo...more
HONEYMOON (Pub. 2005), coauthord by James Patterson and Howard Roughan, is a great read for many reasons.
The villainess, Nora, turns out to be a black widow of a woman, and although James/Howard let us know that she's the killer early on in the book, they spin this tale out in a way that kept me constantly turning the pages (389 in paperback) right to the very end.

entertaining enough to finish. I haven't enjoyed James Patterson in the last few years but this one at least I didn't throw down in disgust. A black widow story and as unbelievable as most black widow stories, but it moved along so I didn't have to dwell on the phony parts too long. Nora Sinclair has issues and the worst one is her need for money, lots of it at the death of husbands. She's a well paid and much sought interior designer with a cute body and great face - perfect but more perfect ar...more
I am just starting to get into these types of action books though I do enjoy especially since I am listening to them while driving home from work, which makes my commute a lot faster.
This is my second James Patterson book and I do enjoy it, and I think that I enjoyed this one a tad more than the first one, “The Lifeguard”. To pass the time at my mother in laws house, I plucked this book from the shelf. I finished it in less than 24 hours, so that should say something about the break-neck pacing of this novel. Somewhat predictable, though Patterson still incorporated a few twists that kept me guessing. There were a few too many loose ends for my liking, as I was left with a lot of questions regarding the characters' motives, most specifically the villain Nora. There was also underwhelming character development, tho...more
James Patterson's novel, Honeymoon, is about Agent John O'Hara and his case against Nora Sinclair, a sophisticated woman who has everything she could possibly want; especially when it comes to men. Not only are they extremely attracted to her, but eventually something happens to them. It is O'Hara's job to find out what is happening, except, he finds himself falling for her charm.

I do really enjoy James Patterson's books, they move with pace and get you hooked from the start. Recently James was voted the number one borrowed author from UK libraries and I can really see why. This book centres around Nora Sinclair the ultimate Black Widow and the undercover agent trying to find out more. I don't know another author that rights such short chapters but this has the effect of keeping you reading and the pages just fly by unlike other crime detective stories.

This book is absolutely awful, and the only reason I read it is because I was supposed to write a paper on it for English class of all things. I dropped the class before writing the paper. I can't believe any English teacher would actually like this horribly written book about shallow one-dimensional charachters who are as stupid as they are obnoxious, tawdry sex scenes that read like something from a bad soft-core porno, and a plot that has more holes than swiss cheese.
