I am so in love with these audiobooks. Peter Kenny is the incontrovertible voice of this series, making all my favorite characters come to life with his authentic reading style and superb acting. Fan translations of these books have been around for a while, but I don’t mind waiting longer if it means I can enjoy the audio editions; every time I jump into a new book, it’s like coming home to old friends.

Má to grády. Určitě někdy v budoucnu přečt

I did not read the official translation. I read a fan translation. Was still very good. The tone was not lost from the "official" translations of the previous books I read. Grammar and slang are great too. Do not hesitate to read the fan translations. They are free to download all over the place. Just make sure to purchase the official copy later so Sapkowski and his translation team do not get shafted.

This is the darkest of the books in the series. Sapkowski adds a few new characters that you w

Re-read after 15+ years.

I think it's my favourite part of Witcher Saga. Not only the tension reaches its peak & the plot dashes wildly with the intensity of a hurricane, but author excels in using few clever tricks to keep the flow - for instance he smartly continues 1 thread plot between scenes while changing characters, location & time, but with keeping the focus on the same pivot element - simple, but nicely done (& helps with the flow - a lot).

In general - no complaints, well, ma

It was good, not great.

Three stars. A good instalment in the series, but doesn't reach the heights of the previous books. A little drawn out. The story focuses mainly on Ciri, with cameos by Geralt that may or may not have happened. The story was generally well told but a bit dull in parts, and I hope the author has saved up all the good stuff for the last book.

The cliffhanger ending is annoying and Geralt features less in this book, but nice story overall.

No one wants to suffer. But that is the fate of each. And some suffer more. Not necessarily of their own volition. It's not about to enduring the suffering. It's about how you endure it.

¿Cu

I'll start this off by saying it was my least favourite of Sapkowski's series so far, due to its juggling of chronology that doesn't always work so well. Retrospective narratives are a wonderful thing, it worked for The Last Wish, and it is done again here, however when there are two retrospective narratives running alongside each other, with a third unattached narrative, things can get a bit hazy. Another (albeit minor) gripe of mine was that the style that had been so prominent in the previous ...more

Dějově díl navazuje p ...more

This book should not have worked. Back and forth timeline. Too many characters. Critical junctures from the point of view of one time characters. Really, this story is a veritable mess, so it's a testament to Sapowski's ability to tell a story that I give Tower of Swallows three stars. Had almost any other author written this, it would have been one.

The penultimate book in the Saga of Geralt of Rivia. Another great Spanish translation by José María Faraldo. I particularly enjoyed this one because Sapkowski takes the narration places it hasn't been yet in the books. At any given chapter you may be reading the same events from the perspective of a different character...sometimes before the fact, sometimes during, and sometimes after, and not always in that order. It's wonderfully executed, though. The majority of this installment follows Ciri ...more

Well I think I am now done with The Witcher series, I loved these to begin with but I really am not enjoying where the author has taken this and it seems like he has completly ignoring the series strong points for some unknown reason.

Instead of focusing on the amazing Lore and Beastiary of the Witcher universe it continues to focus more on Ciri and tends to ignore the series best two characters in Geralt and Yennifer. Its a massive shame that with the resources at his disposal this was so boring

Excellent plot ruined by senseless thread of nihilism

The author does not hold back from expressing his nihilistic and postmodern views the most in this novel. He doesn't she away from moral relativism, nihilism, death, Will to Power, Neitzche, humanism, autonomy, the whole shebang....and contradicts himself several times, in what probably seems appealing to the dull, standard postmodern reader. Except it is utter garbage, distracting, unconvincing, intrinsically contradictory, emotion bating....
