my 1yo son has recently become fascinated with almost all "things that go". male stereotypes prevail! boys will be boys, right? so when it came to picking out a book on trains, i couldn't believe how limited the selection was. sure there are tons of picture books, but i was looking specifically for real-life images, something he could relate to - not drawings, not paintings, and certainly not anything thomas the engine. the dk book of trains was currently out of stock ... so i knew of roger prid ...more

A book full of (I assume) stock photos of trains. My child loves it, and sheer repetition has drilled the names of a few (presumably outdated) trains into my head.

my favorite quote: "Shinkansen"

I love trains. I love all types of trains. After spending the summer in Sweden and riding on the tram, I couldn't stop thinking about trains. When Papa took me to the bookstore I held on to this book and wouldn't let it go. Papa bought it and I still carry it around often. This is one of the books I read at least once a week.

One of the first to buy when a train obsession becomes obvious in your preschooler. If you've read one priddy book, you've seen some of these pictures, but this book isn't for you, is it?

All sorts of trains, labeled with what sort of train they are. There is a question about the trains at the bottom of each page.

Could have more info so it could grow better with a child.

Amazing collection of train photographs... But that's it. A picture of a train and two or three words to say what kind it is. Meh.
