What began its life as a short story in Ford Street’s best-selling anthology, Trust Me! has metamorphosed into an action-packed adventure that not unlike The Matrix shines light on all the big questions regarding the nature of reality and the meaning of life.

Thieves Tark and Zyra are surviving on their wits in a world of science and sorcery. Their goal is to acquire enough money to buy them access to Designers Paradise, a place where, for a short while at least, they can escape into another worl

In recent years, computer games have gone way beyond the likes of Pacman, Space Invaders and such. These days you can take on an avatar and “live” in Second Life, for example. When I was much younger, you could play Dungeons and Dragons around a table, with other fans. It was very sociable and you collected gold, treasure, skills and weapons at the roll of a pair of dice, going up to higher levels as you went. Now, you can go on-line to do the same thing.

What would happen if the avatars wanted

*****3.5/5********

I read Gamers' Quest a while back during a period when I was putting down almost every book that I started. One of the things that struck me most was that even though the book is targeted at an MG audience and is decidedly science fiction which isn't usually my genre, I enjoyed reading Gamers' Quest nonetheless.

Gamers' quest follows the adventures of Tark and Zyra, two opportunistic thieves hell bent on saving or stealing enough money to buy their way into Designers' Paradise.

With a rollicking pace, twists and mysteries aplenty and engaging characters trapped inside a game, Gamers’ Quest is the perfect yarn for primary school-aged kids who THINK they’d prefer to be gaming than reading. This book, the first of a three-book series by Aussie author, George Ivanoff, will prove the doubters wrong!

What a world George Ivanoff has created? YA's have a great ride in this story. The characters really have the reader guessing what comes next. Tark and Zyra are in the game to reach Designers Paradise. I have to say the ending had me reaching for the follow up book immediately. I will post a full review shortly. Most likely when I've finished all three (that won't be long).

Humorous, yet raises serious questions. This book is a short, but enjoyable read.
