If you are a women of official dating age (in other words, 16 and up) you can officially become a Delicious Girl. Don't think upon seeing the word "relationship" in the book's description that this is one of the many relationship how-to books that crowd the shelves today. It's not. Author Barbora Knobova has taken true life stories, condensed them into very short story format (most tales log in around 2 pages) and shared them with readers.

Ms. Knobova's writing style is casual, comfortable and f...more

I just finished reading Barbora Knobova’s book “Tales for Delicious Girls.” In my line of work I read A LOT of books and find myself skimming many of them since there’s not much I haven’t already seen. This time was different. True, books on relationships crowd the shelves of book stores and libraries, but Barbora’s book is unique. Sure, she offers wisdom borne of her own pain and experience, but each chapter is a peek into her life and relationships. Yet instead of feeling like a voyeur simply...more

I did find some of these stories humorous, but I cannot say that I related much to this book. The author has been to many many places and sounds like she has had a variety of men in her life because of her travels. My favorite story was probably Man, Woman, Dog (being a dog lover myself and sharing my life with 2 - dogs, not men - only 1 of those in my life). I loved the way that she told the story about her "Man" and how he failed to understand her "Dog". For those of you with dogs - you know...more

Every once in a while, someone or something will come into your life at just the right time, just when you need it. When I first read the description for this book, I wasn’t sure if I – a blissfully married woman – would take a lot from it.

Yet this book turned out to be exactly what I needed to read even though I didn’t realize it at the time.

Twenty-five small snapshots of Barbora Knobova’s life line up to give you a glimpse into what it is like to love yourself as a woman. Without getting preac...more

I would probably recommend Tales for Delicious Girls as a book to read when you are feeling under the weather. Several of the stories made me smile and laugh at how predictable some of the male archetypes were. Barbara Knobova definitely entertains and provides excellent food for thought for all women of all ages. While she mainly focuses on relationships, she also spends time on the perception of age, beauty (e.g. breasts...or lack thereof), and female rivalry. Tales for Delicious Girls celebra...more

My rating may not quite be fair, since I think it is based largely on me not being the target audience for the book. It was cute, funny and had entertaining stories. If it had been a straight memoir, I would have enjoyed it immensely.

Instead, she's telling these as inspirational stories about dealing with dating and men. There are a few chapters that deal with female friendship and with loving yourself, but the primary focus is the ins and outs of new relationships. I've never lived the life she...more

I had high hopes for this book, and I won’t say that I was disappointed, but it wasn’t entirely what I thought it would be. And honestly, I’m not sure what I thought it would be either. What I do think, however, is that the message of the book is a good one, and for that in itself, I encourage people to read it.
