Although at times a slightly slow read, the book The History of Tattooing by Wilfred Dyson Hambly proved to be a quite interesting and captivating book. With the main theme of questioning whether tattooing in history was related to religious and magical ideas, and other themes addressing superstition, taboos, and associations involved with tattooing, Hambly brought the reader a very in-depth analysis of the meaning and the history of tattooing.
