OK, I thought this was going to be awful, but it was funny and surprisingly informative! I learned several words for butts in other languages and enjoyed the playful illustrations. The one of the proud bald eagle, with his bare butt flying over a majestic mountain range made me laugh out loud.
I suppose I have taught middle school boys for too long. They will love this book!

As a kindergarten teacher I sure know what will gets my students’ attention and what will have them rolling on the ground in laughter. Hearing their teacher say ‘butt’ quite a few times will have them rolling and also have them talking about butts for the rest of the day, maybe even the week.

I don't normally review Children's Books, though I do read them from time to time, but I couldn't pass this one up when Artie wrote to me asking to review it. How can you not laugh at a book all about butts?
I received my copy late last week and had a great time reading through it. Artie even personalized the book for me: "Dear Chrystal, I know you will have a butt load of fun with my preposterous book! Bottoms up!!! Artie"
Okay so now onto the book itself. I didn't More...

I had a chance to review this book several months ago for another site and declined, I thought it would be crude or inappropriate. I grew up in a home where I wasn't even allowed to use the term "butt". After reading a couple positive reviews and being approached by the author I agreed to at least read through this book.
This book ended up being much better than I expected. It's a rhyming book with silly illustrations. Here's a sample:

This book is fantastic and is a sure hit for the little and big kids in your life! I had a blast reading this out loud to my daughter. Bennett’s rhymes are clever and funny while the illustrations definitely serve to enhance this celebration of the under-appreciated butt. There is no doubt in my mind you can get even the most reluctant of readers to read this “cheeky” tribute to the rear end.

Looking for a book to encourage poetry reading and/or writing? Try this one: with it's catchy rhythms, hilarious illustrations and funny topic, kids won't notice the rich vocabulary and clever wordplay. Or maybe they will--and like it!

My Rating: 4/4 stars
Although I have a three-year-old neice and (almost) eight-month-old daughter, I haven't really read many children's books, other than really short, few-worded picture books. That's definitely going to chance sometime in the future. But for now, I don't have many children's illustrated books under my reading belt. Even so, I think The Butt Book was fun, cute, and full of great illustrations.

I was pretty incredulous when I read the title of this book, and then I started thinking, "Kids are going to love this!" It might be a bit too much to read aloud at a storytime or class visit, but boy oh boy I can already hear the little giggles in my head. The rhymes are pretty strong and don't feel too forced. I have to admit, it's a pretty cute book. Best for preschoolers, but early elementary kiddos might like it, too.

This picture book claims that butts have been neglected, overlooked and always the butt of jokes. Hence, this celebration of the bottomless (ha) variety of butts.
"Butt" is already and over-used term in our household so I am not planning on reading this to J anytime soon. I don't know how you'd get through reading this to a group of kids...I imagine they would be in hysterics just over the pictures.

If you don't mind peals of laughter and children screaming "ewwww," please read this funny and delightful ode to our bums. The story is written in rhyme and has wonderfully over-the-top illustrations created with scratchboard and watercolor. At least three times, I had to stop mid-story to chuckle and to laugh at the children's reaction. Definitely a big hit!

Another picture book about butts! I don't know what the fascination is, but I guess it's a subject kids need to understand and the goal with these books might be to break down any taboos about talking about butts. This one is pretty funny and has decent rhyming rhythm. It's not as subtle as Chicken Cheeks so kids will get a kick right off the bat.

This cute little rhyming book about butts is pretty hilarious. Adults love it, and I don't see why a lot of kids wouldn't think it's funny too. It's also simple and short, so it would be good for story time if you aren't concerned about how the subject matter will be received.

Kids will LOVE this book. I think it would make a great read-aloud, especially paired with Steve Jenkins "What Do You Do With a Tail Like This." A little animal yoga or something that invloves movement of the hind-end between the 2 books would make for a super-fun storytime.

This came in the mail today as my oldest son sat on the couch bemoaning the fact that he was sick. He laughed through the book and I did too. Great humor and fun rhymes and illustrations. My fifth grade boys are going to be passing this one around the room.

A hilarious addition to the growing trend of "posterior" literature. The fast-paced, great read-aloud can be paired with "Chicken Cheeks" and "The Tushy Book" for a great storytime!

A fantastic book that indulges the toddler fascination with anything that involves bathroom humor and that includes your BUTT!!!
A great read for the 3 - 4 year old group.

While I can't stand Captain Underpants or Walter the Farting Dog (eww), this book was funny without being gross and actually educational, as far as derrieres go.

"Eyes and ears are much respected, but the butt has been neglected." BRILLIANT, I say. The best butt book I've read--and a permanent addition to my personal library!

Coming from a family of all males I've heard a lot of butt jokes over the years. Both boys and girls will giggle over this silly, yet tasteful read. Adults will chuckle too! From the first pages delightful rhymes take you on a tour of a variety of butt facts. The colorful illustrations are silly with wonderful details. They are the perfect compliment to the words on the page.
Informative and easy to read, you are likely to find yourself enjoying this again and again. Sure to be a favo More...

The title intrigued me. It was kind of funny but not as funny as I expected. The illustrations are great (but not gross!)

I really expected this to be better, though I'm sure it will be well liked by kids.
