I am gluten-free and usually working on being vegan (no eggs or dairy). I have tried several GF cookbooks, recipes, premade mixes, etc. over the years with varying levels of success and satisfaction.

My niece was diagnosed last year with a bunch of allergies: wheat, soy, egg yolk (but not the white, weirdly), dairy, some tree nuts. My father wanted to bake rolls for her that she could eat (and that her mother could eat as well, as my niece is still nursing). He was searching online and found a re...more

I love cookbooks/baking/cooking. We found out a month ago that my daughter is allergic to a lot more than we knew (wheat, soy, milk, eggs, oats, corn, sesame seeds, tree nuts, and peanuts). I had received a kitchenaid mixer as a gift the month before that and thought I'd never really bake again because of all the allergens. I needed a book like this!

I obtained this book from the library and tried the Snickerdoodle recipe -- I even made some substitutions because I didn't have all the ingredients...more

So far, I have only completed one recipe from the book (Baking Powder Biscuits) so it's still to be determined how effective the recipes are. One thing that I don't like is that Pascal calls for a "gluten-free flour mix" that is based on a recipe that she gives in the book. It's helpful to know what gluten-free flour mix is most effective in baking, however, it's also a bit of a nuissance because it means that you can't use, say Red Mill gluten-free flour mix if you don't already have Pascal's f...more

Fantastic cookbook!! There are lots of wonderful recipes, both sweet and savory. I have only tried a few so far, but they all came out wonderfully and tasted great. Although it needs to call for some obscure ingredients, by nature of the allergens being addressed, it is easy to purchase them once and then reuse them in many of the recipes. The intro also contains very helpful information concerning what equipment is handy and other ingredients to keep on hand. This is a really helpful handbook,...more

This book has saved my life. My 7-year old is allergic to wheat, eggs, soy, dairy, peanuts, chocolate, and more. He is finally able to feel like a semi-normal kid again. Even my non-allergenic family members enjoy the recipes too. The savory bread section has the best sandwich bread recipe -- that has made sack lunches to school doable again. Worth the money to buy and more. It's the only cookbook I found that every recipe is 100% allergy free.

This is my go-to book for baking! I have not yet met a recipe i didn't like. I will usually substitute Guar Gum for Xanthan Gum as my son does not like the taste of Xanthan and occasionally substitute other flour blends if i have them around, but otherwise just follow the recipe. I found this book at the library and quickly decided that i needed to have it around all the time.

Just not my cup of tea. No one in my family has to be gluten-free out of necessity. The recipes call for xanthan gum (a corn derivative), so not sure how I feel about that. An overwhelming number of recipes call for vegan shortening and Ener-G egg replacer - definitely not comfortable with those ingredients.

Beautiful, nutritious, easy to make recipes. It's so refreshing not to have to make substitutions in any of these recipes to make something safe for my son. I want to make EVERYTHING in this book!

The recipes seem delicious. . .will have to update this when I try a few. They seem pretty similar to those in My Sweet Vegan.

I really need to just buy this book. I think this is the 3rd or 4th time I've checked it out from my local library. THIS time the goal is sugar cookies, Linzer tarts and Gingerbread cookies for Christmas. I'm always overly optimistic about how many recipes I'll actually complete before the library due date, but we'll see.

Everything I've made from this book has been amazing. I've found some recipes to be even better than their conventional counterparts. So far, I've made donuts, biscuits, and cho...more

The chocolate cake recipe is worth its weight in gold alone.

Love, love, LOVE this book.

Thank goodness for someone who addresses more than just eggs and milk food allergies!!!!!

Wonderful, beautiful, full page pictures for the recipes.

Everything sounds great, looks great and there are good tips in the front. She doesn't specify corn-free, which is usually my biggest hurdle, but the recipes look pretty easy to adjust for that since gluten-free is already handled. I'm looking forward to trying some out.

So far, loving it! This book is very inspiring. I'm not sure what it is -the design, the author's voice, the photos, the recipes? Perhaps the whole package. So far I've made and been happy with muffins and scones. What's next? I'm excited to find out.

Update: I've made three recipes out of this cookbook and now I want to own it. Five stars for tasty-ness and overall appeal!
Kimberly
Copied a few recipes but did not try them out yet. They look simple enough for gluten-free without having to purchase a lot of new and hard to find ingredients.
Susan
love that it has agave sweetened recipes...not entirely but a good selection. thinking about buying it.
