For readers of Keri Arthur’s bestselling Riley Jenson Guardian series comes a new sexy and exciting paranormal romance—the second novel in her acclaimed Myth and Magic series.

Mercy Reynolds is a reporter in the San Francisco Bay area, but she’s also more—and less—than human. Half woman, half air dragon, she’s a “draman”—unable to shift shape but still able to unleash fiery...more

Keri Arthur has been one of my favorite authors since I discover her Riley Jensen series. Mercy Burns is the second installment in her Myth and Magic series. This book is a good solid read and I loved the lure of the dragons. The traditions and world building for their culture was unique and interesting. The schism between the dragon council and the cliques was well done and a main plotline for the story; I wonder if Ms. Arthur has any plans to carry that forward??

Anyway, Mercy Reynold...more

Perhaps I read too many Keri Arthur books to really appreciate this one, but I actually kept forgetting who the character was and expected her to go into Vampire Mode (a la Riley Jenson).

Mercy is a draman, a half dragon (as if that doesn't paint some twisted image involving an oversized reptile and a case of lubricant) being that grew up in a clique with other dragons and draman. Looked down upon by the dragons and seen as pests that threaten to reveal their existence to humans, Mercy and her fe...more

In terms of paranormal romance, Keri Arthur scores pretty high on the sexytimes meter. When I read her Riley Jenson Guardian series (set in Australia! I love Australia!), after reading the first in paperback, I had to buy the rest electronically, because I was waaaaay too embarrassed to be caught reading them in public. In fact, there were times I would have to look around just to make sure no one was reading over my shoulder.

The graphic sex aside, the books were fairly well written, and on one...more

Second in the Myth & Magick paranormal-romance series.

The Story
The basic conflict is between dragons and dramans, half-human and half-dragon offspring. The dragons see the dramans as lesser, good enough to use for services of any kind, good enough to beat and abuse, not good enough to live. And that just pisses Mercy off, dammit. Then Rainey's sister dies in a draman town and when Mercy and Rainey investigate, the whole town is gone. It seems several towns have been obliterated and no one ca...more

Mercy Burns is an urban fantasy novel that began when Mercy Wilson woke up realizing that she's in a car crash and that her friend were already dead. Even as a half-human and half-dragon kind with heightened recovery rate, she was unable to perform a prayer to her friend before the dawn took Rainy's body away. Now Rainy's soul is doomed on earth and never be free until Mercy found her killers and make them pay.

While on a lead, she was drugged and kidnapped, only to be lead in a cell with a drago...more

Mercy is a Draman - half human half dragon - and a reporter to boot. She is investigating the "cleansing" of a number of Draman towns where everyone is killed.
Damon is a full-blood dragon, and an assassin, also investigating the death of a friend; but he has a mind-fix about the value of Dramen as second-class (or lower) dragons.

Their coming together is not easy; Damon's prejudice angers Mercy, and Mercy's skills amazes Damon - he just doesn't understand how Mercy has managed to master (what amo...more

I read the first installment of this series, "Destiny Kills," a couple of years ago or just under that. I wasn't a fan. I know I wouldn't have taken this one home but for the fact that I was digging through a Borders closing sale and I picked up this book without recognizing the author until I read the backleaf and thought, "Shit, I've read this book before...but it was a little different." That's when I recognized Arthur's name and that's when I knew: This was another installment in the series....more

Another 1 day read!! I was on a role! But now the weekend comes into play and I have errands to run! Oh well!

Keri Arthur's Mercy Burns is the long awaited book 2 in her Myth and Magic series that debuted in 2008. Mercy is the sister of Trae who we met back in Destiny Kills, this is her story. Mercy isn't a full blooded dragon at all. She's draman and is treated pretty crappy by the other air dragons. She's inferior and is good for nothing but breeding, not in a married sense either.

The sexy stra...more

Keri Arthur is a writer that I continue to read. I have read her books and enjoy them. Mercy Burns is the second book in the myth and magic series.

I did like this book but I didn't feel a connection to Mercy & Muerte. Maybe Muerte need to be developed a little more for me to connect with or I needed to feel more of an attraction between them, but I will look forward to the next in the series.

Mercy Burns is a reporter in the San Francisco area, but she is also half woman half dragon. Unable...more

Keri Arthur writes appealing fantasy-romance stories. This is the second book in her dragons series. This world is more unique in its supernatural aspect than the vampires and werewolves of her Riley Jenson series, although I find Mercy a little less engaging of a heroine. Mercy is a half-dragon half-human (fortunately one of many, not the "only half-supernatural whatzit in the world" version which is wearing thin in fantasy these days). She has unique abilities in the control of her fire that s...more

While dragons and their half-human offspring, dramans, are the main characters of this novel, Mercy Burns felt more like a romance novel. There were some great paranormal/supernatural aspects to the story and its focus is the repression of the dramans and their society. I think that while Mercy had a lot of great points, she was quick to anger without waiting for an explanation. I liked the character of Muerte very much! I felt like the ending was a bit rushed and tried to tie up loose ends, as...more

This is the second novel in Keri Arthur’s Myth and Magic Series, and the first novel of hers that I’ve read. The protagonist, Mercy, is half human and half dragon, and she’s helping a friend discover what happened to her sister. Unfortunately, Mercy and her friend are attacked and the friend does not survive. Mercy persists in looking for the truth behind the murders and discovers a conspiracy that could change the dragon world forever.
This wasn’t a bad novel; it just didn’t grab my interest. M...more

It took me a week just to get through the first 10 pages. I kept falling asleep after reading a paragraph or two. It was really hard to get into this book. I had the same problem with the first book of this series, Destiny Kills.
I think part of my problem was that I kept thinking that this book followed the same main character as the first book of the series. So I was quite confused at first. I actually thought about giving up on this book and not finishing it. However, I hate not finishing a b...more

Mercy Burns is a complex tale full of twists and turns. This page turner contains one thrilling event after another. I love how Keri Arthur introduces us to another fantastic fantasy world of hers. The adventures and passion and fearsome fighting that are contained within this novel keep you going back for more. The way the storyline effortlessly jumps from one plot to another makes this a smooth read and allowed me to enjoy this tale. It will be interesting to see what comes next for the Myth a...more

This is the 13th book I have read from Keri Arthur and I swear every book she writes is pure awesomesauce!! I love her! She is one of my most favorite authors ever!! So yes totally check out her books if you have not!

Mercy is the sister of Trae (from book one)she is half dragon and half human, she has some of the dragons abilities but not all. Unfortunately Draman are looked down upon and she has the scars to prove it. When her friend is murdered she has only one week to find the killers and see...more

Mercy Burns is the second in the Myth and Magic series. I really enjoyed Destiny Kills, the first book, which featured a sea dragon. This one features a "draman," a half-breed dragon and human, Mercy Reynolds. She is a reporter who is investigating the wholesale slaughter of several draman towns, in which her best friend Rainey's sister was killed. When a horrible accident occurs, Rainey is killed and Mercy is on her own to solve the mystery. She joins forces with Damon, a dragon who is called"m...more

My first Keri Arthur and I was expecting a lot because of the popularity of her Riley Jensen series. I must have started with the wrong book to be able to appreciate Keri Arthur.

I was bored silly with the amount of time I had to spend rattling around in the heroines head, listening to the same issues go around and around multiple times. To top it off I haven't encountered a TSTL heroine this bad in a long time, if ever. The qualities we are told she has, such as very good instincts about people...more

I didn't like this one nearly as much as the first. I think the first one intrigued me with the Nessie story, where this one had none of that. Mercy tended toward a personality that got on my nerves. She was obviously upset over the death of her friend and the prejudice against half dragons, so I will allow some character flaws due to stress. What I didn't care for was her utter instance to not hurt or kill those who were intending to do the same to her. Damon tended to not be as kind as I would...more

This is the second in the Myth & Magic series.
I liked it - a lot... but then I like a lot of Keri's books - it is completely plausible and given that the dragons are living in plain sight and anyone who diviates from that are eliminated, it is easy to slip into the world Keri builds...

Ok read

Mercy is a half dragon ( dram an) who is trying to discover who is responsible for the death of her best friend and for the extermination of a number of Draman settlements.
It turns out that Dramans are regarded as second class citizens in the dragon world and much of the book is spent hearing mercy go on and on about this to the love interest ( full dragon ).

There is much running around discovering who is behind the evil plot.

I hate to say it but I didn't much care by the end.

What I found very interesting about this book was how much of it dealt with discrimination. Of course it wasn't in a form we are normally familiar with, but discrimination is still discrimination where your color, or in this case your species.

Mercy is a draman, a 1/2 human 1/2 dragon, in a world full of dragons. Over and over Mercy is brutal honest with a full-blooded dragon just where a dramans place, they are there to do the grunt work, the menial chores, and to be at the beck and call for se...more

‘Mercy Burns’ is the story of Mercy Reynolds who is the sister of Trae from ‘Destiny Kills’. She is a reporter and a Draman, half-dragon half-human. She is on the hunt for those responsible for the death of her best friend, Rainey; if she is unable to find them within a certain number of days then Rainey's soul will be doomed to roam the earth for eternity.

Keri Arthur has been one of my favorite paranormal romance authors since I first picked up the Riley Jensen series from my local library. When she released her first in the Myths & Magic series, I officially became a huge fan girl. Love. LOVE LOVE LOVE

I can't stress my love for Keri Arthurs work enough. I haven't read a novel by her that I didn't like. Most I loved. This was no different. I instantly knew I would enjoy this read. It starts off with a push and stays airborne the whole time.

I only wish Mercy's past was brought into the picture more. We get the jest of it, but I would have liked a bit more. Damon(a.k.a Death/Muerte) was a cool character. Besides his steamy good looks, he's a lethal, stealthy, full blooded Dragon you don't want...more

I am a complete fan of all Keri Arthur's books and this series, featuring mercy, a Draman - half dragon, half human brings another feisty and fun female character. I happened to read this book in the series first, but now I'll be looking at reading the first and look forward to any that follow it.
Those of us who like dark natured heros will just love Damon. Wow!

This may have been long awaited but is was really worth the wait. I love the dragons in this series and this sexy story kept me interested the whole time. The bad guys were suitably menacing and the racial tension was a nice edge. I liked that he Damon learned the error of his thinking by Mercy's actions. Damons learning curve was worth the journey. I hope Keri Arthur add to this series soon.

Magical! Draconic! Enthralling! Dragons are so my new addiction. Keri Arthur gets up close and personal with these magical beast. Her storytelling powers allow you to fly and view the world as only a dragon can. I loved the bond Mercy has with her dragon spirit. "Muerte" is all man, deliciously dark with all the bonus attributes of a dragon. All I can say is, "When does the next book in the series come out?"

Well, I have to say that dying for a dragon sucks more than for most. If someone doesn't pray over your body at sunrise then your soul is doomed to roam for eternity. Mercy was unconscious when the sun rose over her best friend's body and now she has a week to take revenge and possibly still save her soul.

What I liked:
* Mercy. She had a difficult childhood, but is a very loyal friend. The fact that she put herself into very dangerous situations to help her friend was admirable, even if it was a...more
