Riley and Todd have been best friends since elementary school,and Todd's been in love with Riley just about that long. Riley, however, has always been a ladies' man, so Todd has simply lusted from afar, content not to spoil their friendship. For a short story, this one packs emotion of two best friends. Todd is deeply in love with Riley and haven't able to tell his best friend that fact, until the last night before Riley go to his military training. It is such a beautiful snippet and I love the characters here so much, I truly wish it is expanded to a novella where Riley is finished with his military training. That is a sign of a good short story.
