The Blue Blueprint is the first book of Dodds poetry to hit the literary world since The Last Man on the Moon. Its uniqueness, wordplay, wit and ebullience shine through in poems about the struggle to love, the September attacks, the shape of the world and of ourselves, as well as a handful of songs and the introduction of Spill-O, a character who is sure to linger in the ...more

I recently received this through a goodreads giveaway. At first I was expecting the conventional poetry book, but that was definitely not what I received. What I received was far better. The poems in it were enlightening and interesting and offered a perspective I never would have found on my own. However, on one page the words of a poem are cut off by some illustration, which is the only part I found particularly frustrating. Speaking of the illustrations, they were wonderful, and I thoroughly ...more

I received this book from the goodreads giveaway. Thanks! I liked the format of the book. I can't believe how much emotion and feeling was in the poetry. Two of my favorite poems are "The Most Dangerous Thing to Be" and "The Last Train from Grace."

Dodds is an exceptional writer. Spill-o is a new and interesting character I will not soon forget. The prose of the poems are excellent. I look forward to more books from Colin Dodds.

I received this book for free on Goodreads First Reads.

I'd give it 3 and a half stars to be more precise.

I got this book through a First Reads giveaway.

All in all, Dodds is very good at showing and not telling in his poetry. I think I can say I liked a lot of particular lines or verses rather than full poems throughout this collection. The two poems I did really, really like were "A Million Years on a Greyhound Bus" and "My Personal Undertow." Two other ones I remember liking were "The Most Dangerous Thing to Be" and "Secret Drug Words."

I really enjoined this read! Some very light and lifting poems as well as some pretty deep and motivation poems in addition. I added this collection of poems to my personal bookshelves at home.
