We enjoyed Elizabite, and while it's by the same author of the Curious George books, Elizabite wasn't quite as much fun as that troublemaking monkey.
My niece and nephew enjoyed Elizabite's tendency to take little chomps out of people, and they enjoyed Elizabite's crime fighting skills. She was an active little plant with lots of personality. A fun story for kids, but don't go in expecting Curious George.

This book is a book that I used with first graders to introduce the venus flytrap. It is a little more on a first grade level than the other book, Plantzilla, that I used. The students were more engaged in this story than in Plantzilla, although when we named our plant, they wanted to name it Plantzilla ;)

This adorable, funny children's book is a classic. Written by the author of the Curious George series, this story is much more tightly written and funny. It does not immediately attract children --perhaps the artwork is not so stimulating compared to contemporary children's books.

Based on this book and on Curious George, I would say that the author has no problems with the trade in exotic and endangered species. (Of course this is a reflection of changing times, and attitudes.)

This book is about a carnivorous plant. It's funny seeing Elizabite bite the dog, maid and professor. This a good and funny book. Elizabite ends up saving the scientist.

This is a tale with great rhyme. Dr. White is shocked with Elizabite's bite. Scotty learns not to take her Frankfurter and she catches a criminal. Her new home is at the zoo.

I wish I knew someone who was doing a production of "Little Shop of Horrors" right now so that I could recommend this as a director gift!

How can you not love a book about a carnivorous plant? With Rey's drawings she is a naughty scamp so watch out!

Elizabite, an unusual Venus flytrap, bites everything in sight and finally wins fame by capturing a burglar.

I love this book. Elizabite kind of reminds me of Audrey II, although this book was written before the original movie. Anyhow, it's a funny juxtaposition, the adorably smiling little houseplant biting everyone, including biting off a dog's tail, and catching a burglar within it's expanding mouth. With cheerful illustrations and rhyming verse.

I found this book at a used bookstore's booth at an open market in Florida. I love the irony of having it in my house - a book about a plant that only eats meat - since we're meat who only eat plants. Plus H.A. Rey is brilliant.

My favorite book as a child - think I got this one from the library more than any other!
