I am not who I thought I was. I am not a regular sixteen-year-old girl. I am a witch. A real, ancestral witch. My parents are not my biological parents. My sister and I share no blood.

Even in the coven, I am too powerful now, too different to belong.

I am alone except for Cal. Cal tells me he loves me, and I need to believe him.

ZOMG WHAT A FREAKING AWESOME ENDING!!

I can't believe it ended like that! It makes me want to squee, sceam, and gasp!

Can I get at "tre' awesome" in the house?

"COVEN" picks up where "Book of Shadows" left off.

Morgan passed out, Cal picks her up, smoochy boochy, you're a blood witch.

But how is Morgan a blood witch? And what is a blood witch?

A blood witch is a person who is born with witch parents.

But Morgan's parents are like Dagwood and Blondie. Totally not very witchy. There is totally no Samant

I'm really enjoying this series.

In this book we find out the truth about Morgan's parents. She demands the truth from her adoptive parents and rightfully so. However it takes them a while to tell her the truth.

After finding out the truth she can now start to heal her broken relationship with her parents. I think they will end up being closer now.

We also see how far Bree with go with revenge. Cal is the first boy to ever reject Bree. It's very obvious she doesn't know how to deal with rejection

Today's review is on The Coven by: Cate Tiernan

The Coven is the second book in the sweep series, and though I enjoyed reading it it was not as good as the first book, Book of Shadows.

The book begins each chapter with entries in the Book of Shadows of Morgan's mother then goes into the main story.

After finding out that she is a Blood Witch, Morgan gets the courage to confront her parents and find out why they have been keeping the fact that they are witches from her and her sister. In doing this

Aghhh, I can tell these short books are really going to have me gripped that I am already wondering how I will get some sleep because I find myself becoming addicted to the series. I don't think that this book was as good as the first one because the drama was missing, BUT the cliffhanger that it held and contained just meant that you got to the end of the novel and wanted to move instantly to the next one. I loved the fact that you seemed to see the evil sides of Bree and Raven in this book. In ...more

The character Bree is the reason I don't miss high school. I didn't like her from the beginning of Sweep number one, and I especially don't like her after reading this one. And I know she doesn't get better until later (and I still don't like her later either). I wish Morgan would see that she's better off without her like most readers can.

I love how Morgan feels hatred towards Skye and Hunter when she first meets them. It just sets up the next couple books perfectly. I love how she eludes to pe

Finished part two and I'm not going to make a big review about this.

I still hate Bree. I still think about their friendship as weird. As I explained before: If you are truly friends for such a long time, how could you throw it away that easily for a guy. For god sake.. although it's a handsome one. Now way I'll dump my best friend because she is also a part of my world. I don't think I can go on without her (technically speaking!). It would be a weird world if my best friend would not be my best

This book was a clear improvement over the first one. In this, Morgan confronts her parents about her status as a blood witch, or a genetic witch, and quickly finds out that she was adopted. Her search for information on her birth mother becomes an obsession just as her relationship with Cal is heating up. She is also feeling very conflicted about what happened with Bree but when she finds out that Bree and Raven are asking another witch for a "withering of love" spell, hse is shocked to find th ...more

So I picked up this book this afternoon, around 3. Took a 2 hour nap from 4-6. Picked it back up again and just finished it at 8pm. Yes, I am a fast reader, and it's a fairly short book, but that's not the point... I could NOT put this book down! Which is really odd because I had a very lukewarm reaction to the first Sweep book. This one was definitely much better and I definitely will be reading the rest.

In this book the story becomes much more interest8ing and the main character much more tol

Better than the first book, but it was still irritating at times. I hope the series gets better by the book!

These are my new favorite lunch books. In this second book, Morgan is learning more about her family and about her powers. She is a little pissy through a lot of the book, but she is going through a lot of issues so I cut her some slack for this book. Hopefully she will have her big girl panties on for the rest of the series. This is turning out to be quite a fun series. I expect much angst and drama in my future. Can't wait!

3.75 Stars. I still don't like Cal, and I feel like this book and the first could have easily been one single book. Apart from that, I liked The Coven better than Book of Shadows--an odd thing for me as I have a tendency to dislike the second book (or sophomore slump). The plot moves well and there is much better character development. I think if this book and the first were combined I would have given it a higher rating.
The story continuity is good, though some details that didn't necessarily

it keeps on getting more interesting!

Even though these books are so short, they are full of action!
The more I read, the more I enjoy it!
What I like most about this series so far, is how magic itself is portrayed. Cate Tiernan uses so many wonderful words that create vivid images in your head and it makes you feel connected to the magic described in the book.

I have only one problem so far: Things are happening too fast for my taste. The time span between the ending of the first book and the secon

Key issues: Morgan learns more things about Cal and her family... and she doesn't know if its for the better or worse..

Characters: Morgan: Main character, protagonist, narrator
Cal: Main Character, pro/antagonist, impacts Morgan more than anyone else
Morgan's Parents: Disagree with her and her thoughts on Wicca, don't want her to know a lot of things about her past.

In The Coven, Morgan learns more and more about Wicca and the powers she wields. She learns of her intense love for Cal, and their mor

this book was much better than book 2, and i read through it very quickly (a couple hours) and started book 3 immediately. there are some things i find annoying about the main character (why does she not tell people about things she sees and experiences?!), but i'm clearly hooked.

I LOVED THIS SERIES!! It put me in a whole new understanding of witchcraft while a teenager. Made me respect it more, too. I am not a wiccan, but this book made me almost envy those who were because of their deep connection to the earth, energy and whatnot.

But aside from that, the work itself was with a really great plot. Hell, i accidentally started the series 1/2 way though, not knowing it was a series when i bought my first book (I think it was book 5 in the series). Cate wrote it so well, i

With only 26 pages read (most difficult 26 pages of my life), I have to DNF this book.

The series started off promising enough, but spiraled into a ridiculous mess in a matter of pages.
Shame, really, but that's what happened.

I don't care if in Wicca culture 'love at first sight' is a legit thing; even then, there's a difference between LOVE and OBSESSION. Sorry to break it to you Morgan, but you're obsessed.

And for everything else - the plot, character development, world building - to take the

Expectations
The Coven is the second installment of the Sweep series by Cate Tiernan. This series is about a girl learning about Witchcraft. Haven't read the first book of this series? Check out my review on the Book of Shadows on the blog.
I expect this story getting more personal for Morgan and I think we get more information on about Wicca. I feel excited to start reading this!

The second book in the series was better than the first one. First of all, the characters. There are some new ones whose presence is intimidating and let you know that something way bigger is going on than you suspected in the beginning. Also, the main characters - Morgan, Cal, Robbie, Bree, and Morgan's family- became more interesting. Less flat, more complex. Everyone and everything isn't just black or white (as it sometimes happens, especially in the YA

Once again, a quick, easy and entertaining read! I love books like this. Cate Tiernan gets strait to the story, no extra details to skim through and only 185 pages.

The part that really intrigued me; is reading from a perspective of someone that has been betrayed and lied to by the people she loves when a shocking secret is revealed. Worst of all, she doesn’t have her best friend to confide in.

Morgan’s best friend Bree is a spoiled, selfish, little brat! The one and only time Bree doesn’t get wha

The second book in the Wicca series takes up directly after the first book ended. Morgan now realises she is a blood witch, but what does this mean for her and her family?

Half of this book is Morgan exploring her life as a witch and her heritage, and finding out a lot of nasty things she would have rather not known. The other half explores her relationship with Bree, which has now broken down entirely due to the events of the previous novel with Cal. Bree is also the catalyst for the complete s

Who got mad at Morgan for kissing Cal? Bree and Raven got made at her.

Why did Bree and Raven get mad? Because they both wanted cal and he picked Morgan instead.

Level two:
What does Morgan do when she found out she was adopted? She ran down stirs to look at her borth certificite. Then when she saw i different mothers name on it she ran out made and drove off not knowing were s

“Sorry." he said, rubbing his temples. "Do you have any Tylenol?"
"Nope, sorry. Your doctor's appointment is today right?"
"Yeah."
"Here take this." Jenna rummaged in her purse and took out two tablets.
Robbie squinted at them, then tossed them down with the rest of his soda. "What was that?"
"Cyanide." said Sharon, and we laughed.
"Actually, it was Midol." Jenna said.
Matt whooped with laughter as Robbie gaped at her in dismay.
"It'll really help." Jenna insisted. "It's what I take for my headaches."
"Oh man." Robbie shook his head. I was almost doubled over with laughter.
"Look at it this way," said Cal brightly. "You won't get that awful bloated feeling."
"You'll feel pretty all day." suggested Matt, laughing so hard, he had to wipe his eyes.”
