A wonderful start to 'Sweep'/'Wicca'. *Spoilers books 1-4*
Tiernan has an incredible talent for creating uniquely vivid characters. Normally I shy away from books written in the 1st person, but this was pleasantly different.
The vulnerable nature of the main character means we can begin to empathise with her unusually quickly. This also blinds us to simple truths such as Hunter and Sky's true natures. We stand united with Morgan against them and we too feel crushed at Cal's betrayal.

This book is about a girl named Morgan who goes to school with her best friend, Bree. They meet a transfer student named Cal and everybody falls in love with him--the girls love his good looks and the guys like him because he's cool. One day, Bree drags Morgan to a Wicca meeting hosted by Cal. When Morgan arrives, she is introduced to Wicca--a type of witchcraft--and begins to feel like Wicca is beginning to unleash her inner senses and abilities. After she faints from practicing it in the meeti...more

Morgan is incredibly attracted to Cal, a new senior at her school, but so is her friend Bree. Cal invites both of them to what ends up being a Wicca ritual. Morgan is fascinated by Wicca, and some weird psychic events that happened to her after that night. But overshadowing her enthusiasm is a rivalry developing between her and Bree.
Very readable, with a strong plot. I wish the end hadn't been as abrupt - it's a total cliff-hanger. Not for those who object to the occult and magic, or for sexu...more

What can I say about this book? I originally bought it for my granddaughter on recommendations from Amazon. This is not what I consider a good series for an emotional teenager. I, however, got an education. I never realized there was such a thing as Wicca. This book is quite informative about their beliefs and practices. I had purchased the first four in the series and have read two of them. Reading them as fiction is okay...but I worry about how easily influenced teenagers can be.

this was definitely a quick read, but not because it was "easy" (although, it wasn't difficult either). I was driven on by the main character's discovery of witchcraft and the history of the religion. The author has created a very detailed history and it works. Also, the character is beginning to discover something within herself and that was captivating. I loved her interest in herbs and spells, because it was something I found myself relating to. I look forward to reading the rest.

I've read the entire Sweep series and found them to be very enjoyable (they're teen books so they are what they are). I have to admit that I'm apparently a real sucker for series books. I just can't help wanting to find out what's going to happen to the main characters. In this series, I loved Hunter and really couldn't wait to find out how it would finally end. I wasn't disappointed. The only sad thing was that the series had to end at all! :-(

This book is amazing! It is about a girl who meet a guy who is a witch. Witches can be guys too! She falls in love with him and they both become interested in Wicca, a religon that has a lot to do with magick. magic is spelled with a k to distingush it from other forms of magic. There are 15 books in the series, and i cant wait to read them all.

This was a fantastic book. Although this book has only a few things in common with wicca, which is its name outside Europe, I reccomend it to anyone who is wiccan. It shows you exactly what it is like to find our religion and be drawn to it while practising another religion which disapproves of it. I reccomend it to anyone who has the time to read it, a fantastic series.

I got into these books really quick. The only draw back to it is that at the end of the book, there is no "closure". Yes, there are like 15 books in this series, but, unlike other series, there isnt even anything tied up, you are just left hanging. So you HAVE to get the next book to see whats going on....
However, I loved the books, the characters - yay!

Ok this book is a (very) easy-read, and some may be turned off at first glance by the witchcraft and magic theme. What made me love this series though, is the underlying themes of good vs evil, human nature, love, etc. but built around the story of an average high school girl who learns something extraordinary about herself and her heritage.

Can you tell that I'm addicted to series books? :) The SWEEP series is about a group of teenage witches who start a coven. Drama quickly arises between members due to jealousy, power struggles, etc. Great book! There are 14 books I believe and they are short, quick reads, but are definitely page turners.

Picked this up on the glowing recommendation of a friend of mine. I was dubious. I was wrong. YA read, but very well written. Each book in the series is a little on the short side, but that's to be expected with YA. A good read for those kids who are reluctant to pick up books.

I started this series as a filler while I waited for another series to come in, it's actually a good book, a little young for me, I would have enjoyed it when i was a teen gal, so if you've got one of those around and they like 'witchy' stories it's a good one.

Honestly, I only made it about halfway through this book before I returned it to the library. I guess if you are an aspiring Wicca person, this would be a fascinating book. But for normal people, this is completely mediocre, and not worth the time.

This whole series, about 14? books, is GREAT. They read fast and no one book is better or worse than any other in the series. They flow well together with many plot twists and turns. Perfect for any girl who wishes she had special powers.

this is a fun series. written for teens. about a girl who discovers she's a witch & her adventures into the world of her ancestors. hard to stop reading even though it's silly. kinda like the twilight series, but about witches.
