Transitional

This was a really great biography of President Obama. The illustrations were nice and were clearly supposed to be President Obama. The text was a nice simplified biography of his life up to the point that he was elected for the first time, and gave specific dates when necessary.

This is a transitional reader for children who have mastered reading, I'd say late first grade, second grade. Some of the words are a little difficult, meaning-wise, but I think a lot of the vocabular

This is a nice little non-fiction read for students a bit more confident with their reading skills but not yet ready to leave the comfortable realm of picture books. Children covering presidential history, or wishing to learn about our current leader, can use this as an addition resource or just for an entertaining and informative read.

I know Obama is a controversial subject, but students need to know about the president. I found this book interesting and I learned a lot about our current president.
