What a good little book. I have to admit that at times it seemed over-simplified in a forced kind of way. Maybe to appeal to the lowest common denominator, or to avoid offending. This was particularly apparent in the real-life examples that were used. However, once I caught on to the rhythm of the book I was able to skip over those parts and get right to the juicy nuggets of wisdom. Dr. Emerson Eggerichs' book is based upon the verse Ephesians 5:33 : "However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband." There is some really good stuff here, but you sort of have to wait until the end to reach them. The best part of this book is in the final chapters on the rewarded cycle. Eggerichs also does a terrific job of pointing out scriptures that can be applied to your relations with your spouse. Overall, he has some good ideas, and some very good principles, but I don't think he executes them every well in this written form, and I feel like he has an inadequate understanding of women.
