4 ½-5 stars – Paranormal Romance
Anyone who's read my review for Playing with Fire knows how much I loved it, especially heroine Belle's sarcastic humor and the sexy romance between her and uber yummalicious agent/assassin Rome.
So I was totally ooh goody, goody gum drops for more Belle and Rome in Twice as Hot; but there's trouble in paradise for the engaged lovers, and it ended up being an emotional roller coaster to get to their HEA. Luckily, there's plenty of fun, action, hot sexual tension, a...more

I love this series. If I could personally commission Ms. Showalter to continue the series, I SO would.
This was a great sequel for our dynamic duo, Rome (aka Cat Man) and Belle (aka Homicidal Tendencies Wench), both of whom continue to be, individually, two of my favorite characters and, together, one of my favorite couples. Between Rome’s memory loss, Rome’s ex (Lexis) trying to win back his heart, M-squared (new guy) trying to steal Belle’s heart, and new plots by the bad buys, the c...more

I have never been so pleased with a sequel, as I am with Twice as Hot. Mrs. Showalter has a gift that I believe is rare when it comes to writing in first person, of course I don't really care for first person stories which is why I feel she did such a great job. From the first book I knew Belle and liked her attitude, but in this book you saw her not only grow stronger in her powers but in herself. Also she kicks major tail in this book... I can't right a review without touching base on how wond...more
Lo stile è piacevol...more

Loooooved it...this book was definately more entertaining than the first one, and I gave the first book a 5 star rating.
I am absolutely in love with the characters. In fact, I was emotionally attached to Belle, the main character, and I actually hurt when she hurt, and I was happy when she felt happy. The relationship between Belle and Rome was like a roller coaster, and to go from one extreme to another is what made this book memorable. It wasn't sappy and disgusting, rather, it was interesting...more

Stellar follow up! I loved this book! I was on pins and needles through this entire novel, straight up until the end. Gena Showalter has penned many a great novel, and this is no exception.
The story was fantastic. In the notes in the book, Gena Showalter mentioned the only thing she didn't have time to work into the first novel was if Belle really was the right one for Rome according to Lexis vision. It was a brilliant plot. I love Belle. I love just about everything about her. She's brave, loy...more

Showalter Hits Again in Twice As Hot
Twice as Hot, the sequel to Gena Showalter's Playing with Fire, reintroduces her happy, happy readers to Belle Jamison, the feisty and fun and Extraordinary Wonder Girl, and her hunky love, the Cat Man Rome Masters, a few months further along in their lives from the end of the previous book.

This is the sequel to Playing with Fire. It was a good book and lots of fun to read. If you liked the first book you will like this book even more! This is a light-hearted book not meant to be taken all that seriously.
Belle is finally getting her life together. She has a great job as a paranormal investigator, her superpowers are under control...kind of, and she is planning her wedding to Rome Masters (the super hottie she meet in the first book). Then everything goes wrong Rome gets attacked by...more

This was a MUCH better follow-up to Gena's Playing With Fire novel.
Belle Jamison is back again with her sexy boyfriend Rome Masters - except that on his last mission he ran into a scrim (a supernatural criminal) & he lost his memory...but only of her! He remembers everything (including his ex-wife, the witch) except anything & everything that has to do with her. So faced with his memory loss, she has to investigate a serious case as well as juggle her obvious relationship is...more

A few years ago I've read Playing with Fire (the first book with Belle Jamison) and I remember laughing. A lot. So, when Twice as Hot came out, I immediately bought it and wasn't left disappointed.
Light-read as it was, the book offered excitement and passion. Of course, if I were to compare it with some other, involving superheroes or secret agencies it would . well, be very hard to compare. And I'll tell you why.

I have been waiting on the sequel to Playing With Fire since I heard there was going to be a sequel. I was not disapointed. The plot picks up with Belle and Rome planning to get married. Its all wonderful until Rome looses his memory. Then everything goes to hell in a handbasket. Then you gotta read the book to see what is happening.

I loved the first book Playing with Fire, and thought it was not possible to the second book to overcome book first, but I was wrong the second book Twice as Hot is better than the first. The romance between Belle and Rome suffers an unexpected turn when Rome loses his memory and seem not to want Belle in his life. But even without memory Rome feels completely attracted to her and can not wait to have her in his... arms. So it's like everything is back to the beginning and they have the opportun...more

Oh my, there is so many good things to say about it I don't know where to start! OK so Belle and Rome have just gotten engaged and are still madly in love. I was so happy to fnd out there was going to be a sequel to Playing with Fire, but it took me forever to actually buy it. I am so glad i finally did! Gena delivered again! I thoroughly enjoyed the first one and so was a bit hesistant to read this, why i do not know...it was awesome. Belle is a kick ass heroine who just continues to grow; she develops significantly throughout the novel to deal with the events and emotional onslaught brought on by these events, i truely felt for her. When I started this book I told myself I was going to go to bed early to try and finally get rid of the cold that I had been fighting for weeks. Under no circumstances was I supposed to stay up late, especially not to read. Of course once I got into this book, I couldn’t bring myself to stop and going to bed early went right out the window. I love Belle. She’s funny and strong and even though she changed throughout this book she still remained true to who she was inside, she just got better. She...more

What would you do if your fiancé, who you were planning to marry in just a couple of weeks, went off to a secret mission only to come back with all his memory of you erased? Not only that his ex-wife wants to get him back so she poisoned him against you making him think that they were working on their marriage. Oh and while all of that’s happening you had to fight this crazy super villain set out to destroy you and create world destruction. Yea, that’s what Belle Jamison had to go through and mo...more

I started and finished it today and did i mention IT'S SO FREAKING AWESOME!! The main reason of my reaction is that this book is so touching in so many areas and yet is still exciting and a funny read.
^^ It actually made me tear up when Rome got his memory back ( I HAVE NEVER TEARED UP WHEN READING A BOOK EVER EVER EVER...). I love all the characters in this book and the fact that they play an active role in the story and are not just there being useless like so...more

I wasn't sure how this story would pan out with the memory loss, but Ms. Showalter managed to create to male characters that you couldn't help but love in the end. Rome was difficult and mean at the beginning and I almost stopped liking him, but when he began to fess up to his feelings and reasons i fell in love all over again...just as Belle did. Memory Man was another character I was sure I wouldn't like, but behind all his reasons they made sense...right or wrong. His devotion to protecting B...more

Good read. A worthy sequel to Playing With Fire. I enjoy these books although they contain some of the things I usually DISlike: they're written first person, they frequently sound like the diary entries of a whiny diva, and the storyline sometimes reads like it's being made up as it goes along... But on these books - it works. Really works. The same cast of quirky characters returns with a few new ones added for exotic spice. The dialog is funny, the superpowers and their owners have funny name...more
Oh my gosh this was good...love all the nicknames they give themselves. I wanted to kill-ms know it all! Loved the scence where Belle whipped up on her(totally deserved) I felt bad for memory man, he definately got the short end of the stick in this book! Mr. Sesitivity is one of my fav characters! I love how he interacts with Belle, and I'm glad he found a good woman who will treat him right and love him like he deserves! I don’t entirely know if I’m going to properly express myself in this review. Frankly, I loved this book!
I don’t think there was a part of this book that I didn’t like. Ok, I’m gonna start with the characters. Even down to Lexis, I loved all the characters. Yes, I wanted to shove a flaming fire ball up her arse just as much as Belle did. However, what she did was needed. It was needed to humble Lexis and shows her that you can’t force fate and destiny. You can’t turn a bad situation to your own...more

This was a surprising good read and I pretty much enjoy anything Gena Showalter writes. Twice as Hot was better than the first book in my opinion. Belle and Rome are planning their wedding when after a mission Rome losses his memories. To the point where he can't even remember Belle and he thinks he is still married to his ex.

In Twice as Hot, it's only been a couple of months since Belle Jamison's life changed dramatically by the hands of Dr. Roberts while he was trying to flee the deadly hands of "Pretty Boy" Vincent. After he slipped the dangerous experimental drug in to her grande mocha latte, Belle got the excitement she was looking for, only not how she expected it. The drug changed Belle, altering her DNA and giving her control over the four elements (fire, earth, wind and water) through her emotions. Now she's...more
I enjoyed the first book in this series, so I figured that I would either enjoy this one as well or be bored/annoyed with it. I wasn't sure where else they had to go with the series other than a 'monster-of-the-week' kinda deal.

'Bitch,' I muttered good-naturedley. It was nice to have my friend back. 'You know you wouldn't be able to get enough of me.'
'I like where this conversation is headed,' a male voice said from the doorway.
I looked past Sherridan and spotted Rome in the doorway.
'Hey, baby,' he said.
'Cat Man.' A more welcome sight I'd never beheld. My heart even picked up speed, my monitor announcing it for all the world to hear..
He stalked to me and unceremoniously shoved me aside on the bed where he plopped down and cuddled me close. 'Mad?'
As if. 'I'm grateful. I was walking toward Sherridan with every intention of making out with her, so you did me a favor. She would have fallen in love with me, and then where would we have been?'
'Now I'm mad at /myself/ for stopping you,' he grumbled, and we all laughed. Men!”
