5 stars – Paranormal Romance/Romantic Suspense

This series is totally addictive! It’s got a unique premise, an intriguing cast of young, 20-somethings with cool paranormal abilities, snarky humor, corrupt government conspiracies, uber bad-guys, edge-of-your-seat danger and suspense, dynamite action, and smokin’ hot sex! It reminds me of an exciting blend of several of my favorite TV shows and movies (think Firestarter + X-Files + Heroes + Push) all wrapped into one awesome, explosive thrill ride,...more

I usually don't write reviews, only rate them. Since there are so few reviews I am compelled to do so now. I want to start out by saying that I read for entertainment only. I do not analyze plots or characters. I don't look for hidden meanings or for symbols. I found this book to be entertaining. When I bought the book I did not realize that it was the second book in a series. I wish I would have read the first one first. It was not necessary to follow the plot or anything, I am just that anal a...more

I can’t remember how I found out about this series, but I did and I utterly enjoyed books one and two at the time. Then last year book three, Touching Darkness, came out and I just couldn’t get myself in the mood to read it. Closing in the turn of the New Year I finally did and I regretted waiting this long to do it.

Touching Darkness was such a great read, much more than what i thought. I was kind of reluctant to read it, since it tells the story of two characters we don’t really k...more

Out of the Darkness is the second book in Jamie Rush's Offspring series. Zoe Stoker is a tattoo artist and owns her own studio. Her whole life she has had to keep a tight leash on her emotions. When she loses control things have a tendency to move without anyone touching them. She ends up running for her life when someone tries to kill her. While on the run she is rescued by a strange man who takes her to a group of young people also in hiding. These people all have something in common - some so...more

Opening Line: "This would go a lot easier if you'd stop screaming in pain," Zoe told the muscular man lying beneath her."

OUT OF THE DARKNESS is the second book in the Offspring series which centers on a group of twenty-something’s who are the children of psychic parents that participated in a government experiment. These “offspring” have for the most part hidden their abilities and are only now discovering that others of their kind exist. Our heroine Zoë is a great character; interesting, wild l...more

An intriguing and complicated story of allies and enemies as the offspring of military parents try to survive against a secret government department intent on ending their lives. In book two more offspring come to join the story and the group of rogues continues to grow. Although Lucas and Amy are still in this story the romantic focus shifts to Rand, who was saved at the end of book one, and a new female who joins their ranks. The rogues begin their quest to recruit more offspring and learn of...more

Confusing and stereotypical at times, Out of the Darkness still delivers a quality story. And maybe it wouldn’t have been so confusing if I had read the first book. Honestly, I’m not sure, and while I wouldn’t say this is a must read, it certainly is something that I’m sure that paranormal romance readers will enjoy.

Loved this one even more than the first! The group has finally jelled and become a really endearing family who have each other's backs. The next book is about Nicholas, and I'm sure I will love him, but at this point I'm really dying to read both Eric and Petra's stories. Cheveyo is really intriguing me, and I can't wait to find out more about him!

I am really glad that I discovered this series as I read both books in 2 days. The Offspring are back and the book picks up slightly before the last one left off to just a few hours later. We are introduced to a bunch of new Offspring, some on the good side with the Rogues, some on the bad side with Dark Matter. It is hard even for the Rogues to tell the good guys from the bad guys, especially when the bad guys are picking up more skills than them and even turning them against each other against...more

I didn't think I would like this book that much because we had only just met Rand, but I really enjoyed it.

Rand was very close to over-taking Lucas on my hotness scale LOL.
I loved his eyebrow piercing and the way he was always walking around half naked and working out. He also had a great sense of humour.
I thought it was really cool that Zoe is a tattoo artist. But what I liked most about Zoe was how she changed throughout the book and how much Rand helped her grow stronger. Poor Zoe has n...more

Part two of this series was extremely good. Reading it kind of made me think of the show Heroes, where the people have extrodinary powers and someone is out to use them for their own selfish mean. In part two of the series we meet Rand and Zoe. Zoe is a tattoo artist who also has the ability to make things move. She is warned by the CIA agent who was helping her find out about her father that her life may be in danger. Now she is on the run and is brought under the protection of Rogues who expla...more

Jamie Rush is writing a series that keeps you wanting to find out more about her characters. Each character has their own paranormal talent and must face how far they are willing to go to protect each other and stop the ones who want them dead.

Meet the Offspring, children of a mysterious experiment gone awry. They are targeted to die because they search for answers.

Rand can see the future a talent that could get him killed. As a loner he has a hard time letting anyone into his life but the offs...more

Love this series!!! The offspring children are an intriguing group of people, both good and bad ones. Especially the focused on in this book. Zoe and Rand are both people trying to keep their lives the same despite being hunted by the government. Zoe has never fit into anyone group, even with her friends that she loves dearly, but she finds a home with people that have psychic abilities like she does. Rand is a loner who doesn't want attachment after a life of neglect and living on the streets....more

My review will not contain spoilers. I am only writing my perspective of the book itself.

Whilst I enjoyed this book, it didn't hold the suspense that the first book had. The romance between the two main characters was good at the beginning but then just became frustrating & it felt that the whole storyline became based on the progress of their relationship.

Towards the end of the book, the reader can already envision what book 3 will contain. I am still looking forward to the next one as I b...more

3.5 stars it just didn't grab me the way the first one did and I found I was skimming a lot of it.
I can't really pin down why, Zoe was fab and a well-rounded character but she and Rand really didn't come across as a credible couple to me at all.
If you haven't read the series definitely start with the first.
I'm going to read the third and if that one is back to the standard of the 1st I'll continue - otherwise probably not.

I enjoyed this much more than the first book. Darkness' romantic focus is on a different couple, but the plot still centers around the Offspring as a group. Zoe and Brand make an interesting couple, both loners for differing reasons. I liked the fact that Amy & Lucas' relationship was touched upon instead of being ignored in favor of the new couple. I'm definitely going to be reading more in this series.

I didn't really care for this book to begin with. However closer to the end of the book I got really into it. I did not realize that this book was a 2nd in a series until after I started it, and to begin with I felt like I'd missed something, but by the end I felt well squinted with the characters and their story and I now look forward to reading the next one.

Excellent book and even though I didn't read the first book in the series I had no trouble joining in the story without the benefit of the first. The story was edgy and the action kept me glued to the pages so much so that I had to go right out to get book 1. Definately a great series that I plan on continuing.

Out of the Darkness is the second book in Jaime Rush's phenomenal Offspring series. I love the highly imaginative and unique world that Ms. Rush has created and the characters are very likeable. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes PNR and/or books dealing with psychic abilities.

What the hell? There was literally no ending to this one. I understand that there's a continuing story, but the overall lack of resolution was frustrating. I want to keep reading the series, but I'm going to pace myself and read some of the free books I got on my Kindle yesterday.

I liked this second installment much better than the first. Zoe and Rand while new characters were so likable and relatable and their relationship was built instead of sex first and then love. Guess I will be continuing on this series, excited to see Petra and Cheveyo's story.

I really enjoyed this book and will being picking up the first and next books in the near future. I want to see what happens to Eric and his temper and I want to find out how the saga ends up. This was really well written and kept me intrigued from the begining.

This is a new author/series you will not regret reading! She hooked me with the first one, and I'm officially an addict after the second. I can't wait to find out what happens next, and hope that Jamie WRITES FASTER! lol

It is an interesting concept - of course I paid no attention to the fact that this is the 2nd in a series so now I have to go back and read the 1st out of order, but it shouldn't be an issue. Looking forward to book 3.

Extraordinary book filled with darkness, action, suspense and romance. The strong connections between Zoe and Rand was so emotional.I just love this book and can not wait until the next book comes out in May.

this one was a lot better than the first maybe it was because of the character or on how they met but it was just alot better this time around.
