What subject was Jesus concerned with teaching? What subject were the disciples most interested in learning? Worship leading? Preaching? No! It was prayer!

I picked this book up because David Jeremiah is my father's favorite preacher. I've not heard very many of his sermons, though I would definitely be interested to. I have collected several of Jeremiah's books, this being the first one now read.

I realized that I needed instruction on praying. I felt as though I held nothing but a checklist tha

It's hard to find a good book on prayer these days. Jeremiah wrote a gem, and this causes you to dig deep into and examine how your own prayer life is doing. It did that for me. It's a moving book that is not filled with mechanical how-to's, but gave me a vision for prayer and how I can take it to the next level. Jeremiah goes into detail, line by line, about the Lord's prayer. Powerful. Then he examines Jesus' prayer in John 17 and opens that up. In the end, he explains how we can start a journ ...more

I bought this sometime in October 2011. During that time, I was just starting my journey as a Christian, and since I have always believed in the power of prayer, I bought this book to help me cultivate and improve my prayer life. I don't know why it took me so long before I decided to finish this book but I believe that I've read this book just right in time.

Like what I've said earlier, I've always known that God answers prayer and prayer changes things but admittedly, wrestling in prayer and sp

I love this book. David Jeremiah starts off his book writing about prayer. Then, he writes several chapters on the different phrases of the Lord's Prayer. I particulary like the chapter that refers to "Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed by thy name". I like where he talks about eight different Hebrew names for God. He then writes about the prayer that Jesus prayed for his disciples and for us (believers) in John 17. He then writes about how to keep a journal. This book is such a wonderful bo ...more

I discovered David Jeremiah through Family Life Radio and was daily absorbed in his preaching. He has such a blessed style of relating Bible stories to our everyday life.
This books breaks out the Lord's Prayer and really had me wanting to know more and what this prayer is really about. My favorite chapter so far is about forgiveness - something I'm not very good at . . . I highly recommend this book.

I purchased this book at the Billy Graham library in North Carolina when we visited there. I like reading books on prayer to improve my own prayer life. This book did not offer anything new that I did not already know about prayer and therefore I did not finish reading it.

“The prayer we know as “The Lord’s Prayer” came from the Lord Jesus in direct response to His disciples’ request: “Lord, teach us to pray.” It has always fascinated me that they never asked Jesus to teach them to preach. They never asked Him to teach them to give or to witness. Perhaps, like us, the disciples were often at a loss when it came to communicating with the Almighty.” 2 likes
