Around the Bend: Hilary and her mother Rosemary don't get along at all, but when Rosemary needs to get across the country to California, the two embark on a cross country road trip with Rosemary's pet pit Reginald and a life size cutout of Hilary's father who died a few years earlier.

Considering the cover..it wasn't as bad as I thought! Hilary and her Mother embark on a cross country trip to California. They've never gotten had a good relationship and spend a lot of time bickering. Along the journey there are a lot of ups and downs but eventually both women let down their barriers and really try and understand each other. There were A LOT of cliches in this book, this is a story that I've heard before. But overall it was an enjoyable, quick read.
Shirley Jump's Around the Bend is a wonderful mother-daughter story of self-discovery and the meaning of love. The humor is great fun with wacky characters and a pot-bellied pig. But, it was the romance that kept me up late turning pages to see if Hilary and Nick would overcome the obstacles standing between them and their happy ending. Jump balances heartache with heartwarming in a story of hope and healing.
