To everyone coming into this story and expecting another PsyCop-like series, you are warned: this is nothing like it. The Channeling Morpheus /Sweet Oblivion series is not urban fantasy. It's erotic horror. The focus is mainly on the sex. Very hot sex might I add, but a strong plot line and in depth characterization is not on the menu.
But that's not to say the series isn't engaging. I really liked the compilation of short stories about Michael and Wild Bill. I liked their physical a More...

I am devoted and addicted to Jordan Castillo Price. She can do no wrong. Her characters are memorable and original and are people I wish I knew in the real world, but I'm probably better off not knowing. Price combines so many of my favorite fictional attributes, and she does so in books that are too damn short! This book includes the first 5 of her Channeling Morpheus series. If you have read and loved anything by the author before, then break down and buy the book, as it is a much better deal

I fully expected to love this one, because I loved the Psycop novels by this author. But rather to my surprise, it didn't really work for me. Michael is a young man who has decided to kill vampires, following the death (by vampire) of his best friend Mary. He is a vagabond, searching news reports to try to track down vampires who are killing lots of people. While attempting to kill a vampire named Gray he is assisted by Bill, another vampire with a grudge against Gray.

I am currently stuck on the novel-lites of Jordan Castillo Price, Channeling Morpheus and Sweet Oblivion. Channeling Morpheus has five novel-lites and Sweet Oblivion is up to three and unfinished as a series. They are M/M fiction about a vampire and his cute go-thy boy-toy.
NOT. Out of all the vampire fiction I have ever read these are some of the most bleak.
The vampire in question (Wild Bill) is a former alcoholic artist, who still craves whisky, even though is comes b More...

In recent years, I have not really been a vampire fan. It's a truth that's hard to spot, given that I continue to read the Anita Blake and the Southern Vampire books and True Blood is still appointment watching for me, but it's true, even so. A good story will always suck me in, but a vamp story will seldom get a second look from me to even find out if it's good.
Which is why it was both a surprise and delight that I enjoyed reading Jordan Castillo Price's Channeling Morpheus for More...

Payback (Channeling Morpheus) by Jordan Castillo Price
Michael is a boy in hunt. Not for a one night stand but for a vampire. His best friend, Scary Mary, was murdered by a vampire and Michael has spent years to track down the monster. But Michael is not a bold and daring vampire hunter, he is only a goth boy with no much experience of life: in the parcel where he hides the stakes he also takes his favourite eyeliner...
Then finally he finds the club where the vampire prowl More...

This is a great little series of shorts. I don't like it quote as much as her PsyCop series, but I think that's just because of te length. I like to have shorts to read but these were well developed andconplex and could certainly have been full-length if she'd wanted. This series continues as Sweet Oblivion which is just as good.

Once I was asked to make Payback (Channeling Morpheus 1) into a series, I plotted out the other four novelettes to be Michael's arc, his journey to discovering who he was and where he fit into the world. The subsequent 5 novellas (which will be a second paperback) is Wild Bill's arc.

I like Price's writing style. A lot. This novel was thin on plot and heavy on the adult material, but the style and voice kept me reading. The point of view shifts between Michael and Bill - I really liked them both - and each had a distinct voice. Nicely done. Interesting take on vampires!

My first M/M paperback! I didn't know Santa had started stocking such titles at his workshop, but his name was on the tag, so THANKS, SANTA, I loved it!
This is one of those series that could go on forever and never get boring. These two are just the right amount of crazy in their own ways to keep getting into trouble while delving deeper into their relationship. And I really enjoyed the fact it was alternating points of view but still first person. They were very distinct voices so it More...

Channeling Morpheus is funny, gory, sexy and irreverent. I highly recommend giving it a turn.

Loved it, but then I knew I would. Vampires, m/m sex. Plus, god, Jordan Castillo Price can write. What's not to love?

This book brings me back to being 16 years old, when my boyfriend wore as much makeup as I did, music was everything, and our sexualitys were pretty fluid.
Normaly, things that bring me back to that point in my life, make me cringe, but this book brought me back to the good parts of that time. Back to pretty boys and vampires being sexy, yet evil.
It's a lush, sensual book, and one that is staying very firmly on my keeper shelf!

Note to self (not a review):
From what I've heard, I wouldn't enjoy the type of vampires portrayed in this series, so I'm adding it to my "avoid series" list.
